I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

Replacing Dyche now could backfire and Allegri coming in cold with/if Everton drop into the relegation zone would be quite the punt

Allegri would be a huge risk. He was a major disappointment at Juve in his last job with the worst combination of significantly below par results with boring, uninspired football. You could see an ambitious club taking a shot at him if they found themselves with a vacancy, but it would be reckless to get rid of someone who has done a good job for someone who could quite conceivably be a disaster.

My sense of Allegri is that he is yet another manager who had significant success in a well-defined structure, which then led him to overestimate his contribution and demand greater control. In the new structure he dominated, he was much less successful and more accountable. That would not bode well for a club like Everton that will be facing real constraints for a few years.

Yeah, his 5 titles in a row at Juve in his first stint are historic. Critical context though is that it was with a team that already won the previous 3 before he got there, and would win the next one after he left. He was seemingly the right guy for the job in that he lowered the temperature in a way that was surely needed to sustain the success that Conte first brought them, and showed a lot of tactical versatility along the way. But ultimately he is a manager whose first thought when considering how to improve is “buy me new players” and the limitation of that strategy is ultimately why he left first time and why his return didnt work out.

It’s not a great thing to do with their position.

Undermine their current manager while flirting with a manager who has had success but some time ago.

Everton, the unflushable turd, to survive relegation by finishing 1 point above Man United at 18th.

I’d take that.

Temporarily withholding judgement until we see who they bring in, but this doesn’t seem like a smart move.

The new owners might be aware that the only league they might win is the Championship. They need to get relgated to do that though.

So is the postponement a blessing or a curse now. We may not get kicked to pieces now and not have to face the flat back 10 system he used. Likewise the may get a half competent manager now.

Timing is not great. Their next three matches are not easy, and two of them are at Goodison.

It really is going to be a Moyes Off

The thing is we would probably face more issues against Dyche than a competent manager. He’s been there for ages and so the system will be much in place.

Glad it’s not the next game or two.
