Everton have apparently spent around £500m on transfers in 5 years while Moshiri has been there. If I remember correctly when Abramovic took over at Chelsea, they were already in the CL and the FFP rules hadn’t been brought in yet - I think they came in partly because of his spending.
Abramovic also saw his investment in Chelsea as a way to move a lot of his assets out of Russia.
For a club that’s not in the elite, to get into the elite requires probably 2-300 million in spending, something which isn’t allowed to happen.
Everton’s squad can’t complete, the type of player they need to sign they cannot afford, those they can afford haven’t got the quality to get them I got he top 4. Hahaha it’s beautiful isn’t it.
Winning the League in October aside, the only major cup they will have an assured chance of hoisting is if there is a Losers Trophy competition where the loser is the “winner”.
Don’t think Ev’s problem is them not spending. Moshiri has spent good amount of money in the team. It’s just the changes in managers. Rafa will get 2-3 players in and dispose of some 5-6 players who won’t fit into his system.
Reminds of a long time ago when I was in the military.
There was an upcoming promotion exercise for us junior ranks in our base but only one slated for our unit.
A few names were thrown up as favourites but it went to an absolute outsider; the laziest and least performing bum who was the blue eye boy & balls carrier of the Sergeant in charge.
Everybody demanded an explanation.
It was duly given that the most deserving were left out because they are their own motivation and and don’t need any reward but the bum was promoted to encourage him to be better.
The Blues are no longer looking at a funding model with Liverpool City Council.
But the bulk of the money required will come in the form of ‘private debt’.
And the Blues will now ramp up talks with a clutch of financial institutions before choosing which lender to strike a deal with.
Everton are also to explore what grant funding may be available to them to help with enabling works but the vast majority of the half a billion pound project will come from lending, Moshiri
They have a decent chance. I would think that us, Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs will finish in the first four (although I’d love it if the other three flopped completely!) but after that it’s wide open.
Leicester are a good team but nothing special and the two North London clubs are in transition (especially if Spurs sell Kane), so the Bitters won’t get many better chances of reaching Europe than this.
As @Rambler has ably demonstrated, your assertion is incorrect.
Wishful thinking on your part I’m afraid. In December last year Blue Heaven Holdings Ltd (“Moshiri’s” investment vehicle) increased it’s holding in the blueshite to 92%.
I estimate that brought the total value of Usmanov’s Moshiri’s investment (by way of equity and loans) in the blueshite to a minimum of £535 million.
And, if the Echo article regarding the financing of the new stadium is correct, Moshiri is going to bung another £100 million at that.
So, I don’t care how rich you are, you just aren’t going to up and walk away from that sort of money.
Rafa will do a Rafa. He’ll be pragmatic, he’ll know that the only real shot at silverware will be the League Cup or FA Cup, and with favourable draws, and some rotation (inc leftfield starting line ups in the PL to save legs), he could surprise folk.
It would be kind of funny of Everton finally win something with Rafa in charge - especially for those Blues that are livid the reds legend is in charge.
