Ibrahima KONATE: 2024/25

When is Ibou back?

Not soon enough.

Coincidence? The first 2 incidents happened when Trump was President and Konate for injured as soon as Trump won the election again. I don’t think so.

I like this new ash and gold look. Thank you @ISMF

That explains his inconsistent form, I guess. Quality presser from him, it has to be said. Very well spoken.

This should provide ample evidence why it’s not as simple as just offering the three of them contracts as though they’re independent events. There’s an entire cascade down the entire club…

I agree. FSGOUT for offering shitty contracts the players dont want to sign.

Hughes just dialling it in from his sunbed in the Bahamas.

He knows he’s just going to replace them with players he signed for Bornemouth and then he’s going to sign them all again, only on a free for Real Madrid in five years’ time.

In other words, he’s been rushed back.

Don’t like this one bit and it’s not the first time we’ve done it either. It would be far from ideal, but Quansah should have had another chance, at least until Konate was closer to full fitness. And if this wasn’t an option desirable to Slot and his staff, we should have moved for another CB.

Playing Konate or any player through the pain is asking for trouble, in my opinion.

Happens a lot, not saying it’s always the best decision, but it is how it is.

For a while now, I’m of the opinion that more quality more competition is needed at CB.

I think its the most urgent area of the pitch needing attention, right now, and if we are bringing a player in, it should be a CB. I don’t like the idea of Ibou getting injured and us being down to Qunsah and Endo as the options to partner Virgil.

It is, it definitely is. That said, from what he said in the presser (and before it), I got the impression that he was the one who made it his mission to return quicker than expected, i.e. he hadn’t been rushed by club’s staff. I hope it won’t have a negative effect on his long-term form and fitness.

Melissa Reddy, Sky Sports:

“Sources close to Konate believe the consistency of his performances, the ‘gold-standard partnership’ with Virgil van Dijk, his status in the squad under Arne Slot, as well as literally putting his body on the line for the club, should be reflected in how well he is rewarded.”

She outlined that the 25-year-old ‘is committed to Liverpool, is happy at the club and would love to extend his stay on Merseyside, on the right terms’.

Sources close to Joel Matip never talked about the ‘platinum-standard partnership’ with van Dijk.

Be aware that sources are 95% made up.

Actually my journalist tutor at University suggested it was closer to 100%.

If you have a contact then good for you but it’s rare anything like that would be said as it’s easy to associate.

A source is a way of distancing yourself from something. And we already know what he said yesterday. I love how people make a living from this.

I think in this context “Sources close to…” means his agent.

Joyce/Times:

“Van Dijk’s centre back partner, Ibrahima Konaté, was also culpable for Fulham’s equaliser; like the Dutchman, he is yet to sign a new deal. The 25-year-old’s contract expires next season.”

“The club began talks with the France international before October last year. The defender earns about £80,000 a week, and it is understood his representatives were seeking closer to £200,000 a week.”

£200k? :joy:

Nice.

How about completing or surpassing (God forbid?) 40 games a season, which he struggled to do so far?
