Ibrahima KONATE: 2025/26

I remember Skrtel doing the same against the likes of Kevin Davies, Kenwyne Jones, Bobby Zamora, etc.

Ibou, should just concentrate on position and winning the ball, when he gets involved in wrestling he really struggles as a lot of time he gets pinned and rolled.

Also, it is on the ball that he somehow needs to improve on because he really struggles to progress the ball.

I prefer Joe at that but he sometimes over does the vertical pass, but form me I kinda prefer that than just lazily passing it sideways and between our CB’s.

I am trying to think of an occasion against Gala where either of our CB’s played that vertical pass either into the midfielders or forwards.

Another incredible few passes last night. Foot (or entire body?) made out of wood at times.

Thought he was man of the match last night…for Galatasaray.
Fucking hopeless.

It’s like when you have one of those dreams when you’re playing football but when you try to strike the ball it’s as if you’ve got a dead leg.

Alisson’s injury came about after yet another loose pass by Konate. He is a liability at the moment.

Still a week before the next game, but I can’t see him paying 90 minutes. I hope Gomez is up to speed.

Fact he has been out there that long would suggest it’s not overly serious but obvious would benefit from not playing over the next week.

Gomez has to play if he isn’t fit.

Gomez’s hamstring: ā€œhold my beerā€¦ā€

And if it happens great, do you win a prize?

Are you doing ok?

Yeah but saying stuff like that… not sure it helps anyone.

Think Quansah’s groin beat him to it

He is one big liability to the team, he slows the whole momentum down, literally watching him play football is shocking, he looks so finished at the moment, I mean Matip back in at this point would not be a bad move he has fell that short!

He was brilliant against Madrid. Maybe it was his opportunity to put himself in the shop window!
He can look absolutely world class at times, but I always feel that he is always on the verge of throwing one in. I think with players like Konate, it must come down to mentality and concentration. He has all the physical attributes and at his best, he’s a beast. But Vigil is very consistent over many years and Ibou hasn’t.
Looks like he will probably leave though, and I’ll be sad to see him go to be honest. I think it may be harder to replace him than we realise as he’s got a decent partnership with Virgil and maybe we are all judging him by the captains standards. There are times he looks like Traore mark 2, but generally in his time here, he has been ā€˜good’ by most prem defenders standards (as far as I’ve seen - I only really watch us consistently to be honest so maybe I’m wrong?) without being absolute top level.

I think the drop in performances this season probably won’t make Real take him off the list. It’s not only this season’s games that count for such decisions. Latest reports are that he’s still on their list (and of course there’s still chance for him to stay), so it doesn’t mean he’s the only option. But as time passes, I think he’s closer to leaving than staying. They probably want their RCB (also close to Trent) to be one with more physical traits, able to defend big spaces. Because their future at LCB looks ā€˜sorted’ with Huijsen. Alaba will leave and that will free up big wages. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Guehi is Konate’s replacement.
