Fascinating but shouldn’t happen.

Water shouldn’t pond like that. Blocked drain, poor design or surfacing laid out if spec.

This is a very bizarre case for us in the UK, most certainly me.

What happens if she eventually gives birth to a girl?
Would she be deheaded?

Great achievement but this annoys me

The Gloucestershire climber became the first person to complete the 8,849m (29,032ft) peak 16 times on Saturday.

Ummm…no.

“This marks KC’s 16th summit, a non-Sherpa record.

Does the BBC not consider Sherpas as human beings?

I got really fascinated by Everest and big mountain climbing s couple of years ago but quickly realised that it’s all business and much of it now feels fake to me. Everest in particular is a holiday camp where wealthy individuals pay big money to guided to the top. The Sherpas do all the hard work and while they’re paid and recognised by the tour parties etc. they get zero credit. They will fix ropes all the way up both sides at the start of the season and then guide individuals up and down.

I think I’m right in saying there’s one Sherpa who summited Everest 8 times in a season. There are numerous record attempts at various things there nearly all of which are Sherpa guided. Zero credit. Also numerous rescue attempts when it goes wrong. Again zero credit.

Another broken western ideal. The film 14 peaks is well worth a watch. It highlights the Sherpa story but is also a crazy achievement.

If I’m not mistaken, cocaine was included in the original formulation but was mostly absent by 1904 and completely cocaine-free by 1929. The bottle in the pic probably contained trace amounts.

They need to go back to that kind of packaging

Of course they don’t. That is why they always claime Hillary as the first to climb it.

Wait, what? Next you’ll be telling me that Columbus wasn’t the first person to discover America!

And I hate to break it to you, but Captain Cook wasn’t the first person to find Australia…

He wasn’t even the first person to find Australia that week

Tbf he didn’t know he was looking for it.

The irony is actually that the French landed about 2 weeks earlier, but were further south of were Sydney now is then decided to keep sailing. Cook later landed in the same bay, but in a rare bit of English optimism, thought it might be nicer a bit further north.

And that’s not even factoring in the Dutch who landed in the north part of WA over 100 years earlier
