International Football

As I suspected

A FIFA disciplinary committee has imposed a three-match ban, but the final two games are suspended for one year provided there is no similar infringement during the probation period.

Described as an unprecedented decision.

Looking forward to his tears already when they get knocked out.

I would have assumed they could have claimed to use it in friendlies….I’d rather they had done that simply than just change the rules.

Maybe someone can kick him up in the air in the first game and then plead using this rule.

Oops. The Flamengo broke the trophy. Gaffer taped (duck taped) up for the celebration and bus parade.

Copa da Libertadores breaks during Flamengo party and appears with tapes

Embarrassing IMHO

Surprised they don’t have 4 or 5 they can just replace it.

Not the first time a team has damaged the trophy after winning a comp.

Doesn’t sound as though anyone was hurt or affected by it, thankfully, but what possessed them to do such a thing?

I am guessing it went out of hand, but I am going to google to check.

Yepp, I was right. It’s a kid and not ā€œthe fansā€. The Indykaila framing was just too outlandish for me to believe without corroboration tbh

Same that possess kids 13-16 to destroy things at school, or set fire to something etc. Bad judgement, being emotionally worked up brats and excitement.

@mods is there any chance indykiala could be banned as a source? It just shit-posts and people repost it as if there is some basis to claims that are either unknowable or not credible.

That’s hideous. It reminds me of the Bradford Stadium fire. Thankfully, no one hurt here.

Honestly, if Indy hadn’t posted that, I certainly wouldn’t have found out about it. I don’t read Finnish news, by the way. It’s not a big deal.

But if you’re not interested in this sort of thing, then I’ll simply refrain from doing it in the future.

I also specifically looked up a link and left it there. Then it would have been possible to read that they were teenagers. But okay, there’s always something. I can spend my time more productively.

This constant complaining is taking away all the joy I get from posting anything here.

I think on this occasion, it might have been better just to post the news story about it. The image on the X link looked traumatic, the news story was of interest.

No, I’ll just give up completely. It’s not worth the effort to search any longer just to please everyone. That’s not working here right now. There’s always something.

There’s no point in investing any more time here.

You don’t have to please everyone though, Livvy.
Many people think what you are posting is interesting. If some dont, then eh.

I post a lot that most dont find interesting at all. Sometimes someone complains too.i sometimes get frustrated when that happens too. But it just is what it is.

I dont see why anything should be banned personally. I just wanted to double check it since i figured it would have been in the news if fans set fire to the stadium because they were relegated, so i did. I didnt intend anything dramatic by doing that, certainly not anything hostile towards you.

@Livvy - Without you and some others making the effort to produce content, the site would die a slow, humourless death. I have posted lots of stuff which is of interest to me. I have also posted stuff that is of no interest, but feel it would be to others, and so I make the effort to include such content.

This broad stroke approach by me, has also had comments, snide or otherwise, slung at me made by others. It seems unless you include the origin of your source, the CV of the journalist of that source, their hat size, shoe size, whether they wear boxer shorts or speedo’s, eat cereal or a bacon bap for breakfast, then your post is made to feel inadequate and not fit for purpose to post, as in… ā€˜How Dare I Waste Their Time’…
In short, sometimes it leaves you feeling like you do now…

Accessing the site across a 24hr window, allows everyone to ā€˜pop-in’ at anytime for a quick browse, yet there is nothing worse than discovering NO new posts, for that is when I think to myself… ā€œwhat a fuckin waste of time that wasā€ā€¦

I see the site similar to walking into a Doctors/Dentists waiting room of sorts, or arriving early at any Company reception and have to wait for a meeting… obviously you sit down await your call, but as night follows day, and day follows night again, each and every one of us would pick up and read any leaflets, cards, brochures, magazines or anything that comes to hand, as long as it meant your mind and hands were occupied in those dead, ā€˜kill some time moments’…

I’m sure the criticism of your post was not intended to offend the time and trouble you spend making an effort in these things, but if it was, then do what I do, rise above it and continue in the way you operate. DON’T CHANGE..!
For what it is worth, I read most of the postings on here, yours, and your views, are certainly ones that always catch my attention for the right reasons… You seem like the type to sit around the same table at in the boozer.
Onwards and upwards eh Livvy…
Don’t let them grind you down :0)

@Livvy, as @Magnus says, you don’t have to please everyone. These items are interesting to some of us and not to others. I’m sure a lot of the things I post are disregarded or maybe not well-received by people, but that’s the nature of these forums, isn’t it? Even if only one or two find it interesting that’s fine, but at least they’ve had the opportunity to see something they may not otherwise have been aware of, whether it’s a more serious item like that one, or even a more light-hearted or happier theme.

I mean, I found it interesting as an example. Interesting enough to google to see if it actually really happened like framed, since I hadn’t heared of it and therefore found it very strange (since this kind of stuff is generally MSM tabloid staple food). Turned out it did happen, but not like framed.

Was still interesting, if a bit sad given that those kids are liable for the damage they caused and are all below 15. Despite no criminal charges, they are in trouble (or their parents) and this is first and foremost a social case. Of course, they won’t be made to pay the entire cost obviously, but there will likely be some sort of compensation, not sure how much.

I don’t get the ban instinct though. Some accounts on social media are aggregates and retweets misinformation, but they can still have valid information in other cases. Indykaklia has proved to have good sources with regards to transfers and such matters previously (good enough for msm to write about how he had surprisingly good sources). Maybe not the best source for general news though and probably just retweets aggregate stuff there, but who cares. It’s not like double checking is hard work.

I’ve never liked the knee-jerk banning instinct some on this site has myself, but understand this is a contentious matter with some (how many times have there not been people shouting to ban twitter).

Just double check sources if someone posts something that sounds implausible. Do some work yourself instead of relying on the perfection of others, shrug. Then post your finding, correcting the misinformation. I literally always google if I read something unlikely and often ask myself why others don’t do the same. By banning you remove and restrict too much that is actually informative. If you want to improve media awareness or media literacy, banning isn’t the path for various reasons, unless it is disinformation (but even that is useful to show people at times, because it can be informative to show people that it is indeed disinformation). One of which is restricting the spaces of others. Another is that it’s so hard to draw the line subjectively, because when you hard filter, you also lose a lot of good information (I mean, apart from memes). With social media, everyone is an editor. That is just how it is. Some sources are far better than others, but sometimes, sub par sources have relevant information as well.

Also, let’s be honest here, misinformation is really mostly a very big problem in the political and educational domain (there it is very dangerous though). If something is framed to manipulate public opinion etc. Football related news and gossip is seldom very politically explosive and is not really a sociopolitical problem that alters public opinion (makes them more skeptical of immigrants, the EU, lose trust in own government; whatever).

Literally no very good reason to ban sources like Indykaila, except that a few find it annoying or something like that. It’s not dangerous though.
