Nevertheless: I do live the fan-friendship with Rangers FC. Hamburger SV and the âGersâ have a fan-friendship since the 1970s. The fan-friendship with Danish club FC Copenhagen are from 2005 as HSV and FCK has faced at the first round of 2005-06 UEFA Cup campaign (1-1 at Hamburg and 1-0 victory for HSV in Copenhagen).
It is a fact that Celtic FC fans belong to the political left spectrum. Either moderate left or extreme left. Among Rangers FC fans, there are certainly some who are right-wing extremists. But there arenât many. The fans of the âGersâ are not homogeneous; there is a wide range of opinions.
In any case, as a fan of Hamburger SV, Rangers are my friends. And no one can change my mind about that.
He was a character who used to do hit and run posts on the BBC 606 boards. He became a real fan favourite how how his enthusiasm for what Rafa was doing was paired with an incredible interpretation of how the English language works
If I offended anyone with my statement about Celtic FC (âCeltic fans are extreme left-wing/left-wingâ), then I apologise. This applies not only, but especially to the user âdalglishâ.
I just wanted to say that not every Rangers FC fan is right-wing extremist or right-wing. And for me (as a fan of Hamburger SV), Rangers FC (just like Liverpool FC) is an ally and a club for which I have great sympathy and always support in European competitions, regardless of whether the opponent is German, Portuguese, French, etc.
Didnât offend, just a crazy thing to peg one of the old firm and a large football club as âextreme leftâ. Liverpool supporters would skew left of centre on the current British political map but there is no way you could label them (or any other large football club) extreme left (or right). In fact youâd struggle to name many âextreme leftâ organisations with more than 1000 members anywhere.
This is a mistake on my part. But Celtic fans are indeed left of centre and perhaps (as we say in Germany) left-liberal. They have (or had) a fan friendship with FC St Pauli. And not only do they have a left-wing fan scene, but the whole club has a politically left-wing identity.
And as an HSV fan, Iâm an opponent of St Pauli (and Celtic), even though Iâm an anti-fascist. Iâm against the far-right AfD etc.
I understand English is your second/third language and I donât mean this as a criticism but Iâve not made any reference at all to your politics. My comment was simply around calling Celtic (or any other mainstream football club) âfar leftâ is ridiculous and adds to this characterisation on the right that there is a âfar leftâ loose on society as a justification for fascist âalternativesâ.
Anyway you are very welcome on here and we will welcome your German football views/knowledge and we already have some poser Germans (hi, @Bekloppt ) as well as some that Germany has disowned (@GermanRed ) so an authentic German to go with our authentic Norwegian billionaire will be great.
Weâll be watching the German games (appears to be on Das Erste und RTL) I wouldnât mind seeing the Netherlands, but it doesnât appear to be on anywhere I can access it.
