January Transfer Window 2023

Arsenal fans certainly do not enjoy seeing Reiss Nelson playing, I know that much.

Nah, I’m not saying it’s the front players to go forward with, just stating what they have under contract/playing right now.

But that it’s certainly a bit of a weird transfer on paper. To go that high for a player who’s played about 60 games in Ukraine and Arsenal have what they have up top.

Certainly not something not to comment but just have it as “logical move” because they’re a bit short.

We’ll see, maybe he’s boss, who knows.

It’s a possibly stupid suggestion, but I wonder if the success of the lad at Napoli has influenced any thoughts about this guy. Since they were kids they had been viewed kind of as a pair…immense looking talents, but viewed skeptically due to the lack of real talent that has come out of the former soviet regions since the break up of the USSR. It’s really only been Sheva who has amounted to anything like the stature of the players those regions used to routinely produce. But now Kvaratskhelia has demonstrated that he seemingly is as good as scouts said he might be 3-4 years ago, I wonder if people are feeling more confident in their scouting of Mudryk now?

Not going to lie when I first heard the name Mudryk, I thought Arsenal must be thinking he’s another Kvara. But I certainly didn’t think he would cost a bomb. “Must” be good if they’re prepared to go this high, but how good, we’ll see. I thought Arsenal would maybe add in this window, but perhaps wait next summer for something serious. Not that you cannot find quality deals in January sometimes. But I didn’t see Arsenal going so big a player like that.

It certainly is an outrageous fee Shakhtar are asking for…but if Arsenal and/or Chelsea would be willing to meet close to that figure then fair play.

Considering the most recent biggest sales in his position they’ve accrued for were Douglas Costa to Bayern for 30m., Mhkitaryan to Dortmund for 25m and Willian to Chelsea for 30m.

Plus, I don’t know what is the standard in Ukraine these days due to obvious reasons, comparing to back then when top clubs used to lurk for some of those quality transfers.

Dion Beljo from Osijek to Augsburg for €3m.
Mario Lemina from Nice to Wolves for a fee close to €10m (Romano).

Sick and tired of this topic :rage:

Can’t believe we missed out on Dion Beljo.

Preparing to lose someone?

Not necessarily.

I think they lost Boubacar Traore for a few months, so Lemina is probably brought in as extra cover. Now they have Neves, Moutinho, Nunes, Lemina and that young Joe Hodge who did well against us.

Wolves had short numbers in CM in recent years.

Is Lemina the guy who was at Southampton or Watford a few seasons ago ?

Southampton, yes. He looked really solid everytime I saw him, but the shipped him out pretty quickly. He’s always looked to me a much better player than his career has shown.
