Joël MATIP: 2021/22

I agree with that also and I think his understanding with Trent and Virgil is fantastic.

I think I’d say the same.

Supposedly missed 0 games through injury this season. Crazy seeing I was selling him this time last year due to injury issues.

It was slightly crazy if you think about the season before, I think Konate had a knock for a week or so and VVD had a knock at the end but other than that none of them missed a game, even Alisson who usually had one spell on the sidlelines didn’t this season.

Maybe bringing in Dr. Schlumberger last summer played a part.

Perhaps we should bring back Sturridge then

Probably fair enough. Don’t see how he could let Joel just play World Cups :joy:

This might be the last one he would be available for as he is 30.

I can understand why they may refuse him (if it is true), but I think it would serve them well to think about why he may have not wanted to play before - he has struggled with his fitness in previous seasons. We have seen this year, that he has been fit for much of it. We are also likely to be playing Konate as VVD’s starting partner more frequently now that he has settled. This means that he may be fresher and fitter than he has been for a long time and therefore of more use to the national team.

He’s definitely a massive benefit for them obviously. He did similar for the 2014 World Cup I recall and got the call up. Think they got eliminated out of group stage anyway so perhaps they are thinking of a similar fate so no point in calling up Joel who had ‘retired’ during the friendlies and qualification but comes out of it during the big one. He has declined playing for them and actually has missed games for us in the confusion of not informing FIFA.

He declined to play for them due to their previous coach if I recollect?

I hope he doesn’t go. VVD would be going and we shouldn’t risk two of our CB.

It was more than that. The fall out was largely with one man. The manager overlooked him for a period and publicly called out his commitment to the team citing him being German not Cameroonian, so Joel told them fuck it. Quite understandably so. When the big FIFA stink happened it was still the same manager who’d caused the fall out, which is why Joel was adamant he wasnt going to play for them. If the people in charge change it might be reasonable to reevaluate the situation.

Etoo is a massive dickhead

That said, I wouldn’t want to see Matip playing an additional tournament

Where’s the cotton wool, take care Joel!

Is that his brother who played at Bochum? Remember him from playing FM with them when I was a kid.

Looks like Ashley Cole after he’s been playing on the Zoltar.

Since when did Joel learn how to levitate?
