Jota was certainly brought in partly to address this, as was Konate, and allowing Gini to leave was also at least a little related. Jones and Elliot in particular are also being groomed to grow into first team roles.
More needs to be done to keep to much of the squad from aging out as a group, but I don’t think it’s fair to say nothing has been done.
He is 31 and will be almost 33 when his contract expires. I want him to stay on like Milner did but it doesn’t make sense to do a huge contract. If he wants to leave, I’ll be sorry to see him go but we need to be smart about these things.
Personally what slightly confuses me is that it’s really not the same as Gini, 33 when his contract ends would generally be the time you would expect a come down.
The most reliable journos have said nothing on Henderson such as Joyce and Reddy (Though seems Reddy is on leave).
I don’t really care what Pearce, Jones or King say frankly, they could easily create a story, it came from Pearce originally anyhow.
It was a week before they were discussing a new contact, so probably have sat down once to discuss it, rather our club not do a running commentary of deals. I reckon there are some disagreements but I would be literally shocked if he left this summer.
Given the fact Arsenal have been mooted at the place he could move too - i call it complete and utter bullshit. More chance of Hendo going back to Sunderland to retire than deciding to give the Gunners a go!
More chance of Hendo creating a time machine, time warping to the past to teach me how to build one, then me time warping to the future in order to determine if he moves there or not, and then time warping to Hendo in the past in order to teach him how to create a time machine.
Me thinks Jordan will stay as long as possible with LFC to learn about the management side… Maybe he has an ambition to return home and awaken the sleeping giant that was once Sunderland, in a similar manner to what Jurgen has done for us!
