Jürgen Klopp - Liverpool Legend

Really sad to see but his own fault…

Klopp will be the first one to laugh about that.

Carnival in Germany is a bit… strange

I’m sure he’ll get over it.

When you scratch beneath the surface of the famous 50+1 rule in Germany its clear that it really doesn’t mean what it says it does but for some reason all the ire seems to be directed at Leipzig.

Even a club like Dortmund isn’t owned 50+% by fans, its less than 6%.

I find this rather funny to be honest, and he fully deserves it. He’ll be aware of it though, and probably laugh it off.

Maybe that’s because you don’t actually understand what you’re talking about

Probably true but I still don’t think that German football is as pure as many of the fans want to believe

In my experience, following the discussions around it, it’s usually those protesting for the 50+1 rule that actually understand the facts and details, but many of the shrug shoulders fans don’t have a clue.

The way 50+1 is often discussed in England is as a fact of ownership with the presentation being that German clubs are all fan-owned but that’s what I mean when I say scratching the surface and its not really that or at least isn’t always that.

I just don’t get why RB Leipzig are treated like the only club exploiting or avoiding 50+1 rules when most of the league has done things like seperate their footballing operations to get around it.

Fan ownership is definitely a great goal and I applaud those that do it in the spirit of the rule but I find it a bit rich coming from teams like Bayern and Dortmund to criticise Leipzig’s structure when they also manipulate the rules to suit themselves when they see fit (albeit in a slightly different way).

Like I said, no clue, but an opinion.
These clubs did exactly what was intended to be made possible (seperating in to be able to get investors in) and why the 50+1 was introduced at the same time in the first place in 1998 as a countermeasure. That was the whole idea of it all. These things were always intended to go along each other.
Trying to get investors in for the Bundesliga clubs to be competitive in while keeping a control element in the Vereinsstruktur (members).

Well, again that is fair. I’ve read a couple of articles and heard the general discussion about it when English media had a sudden obsession with the Bundesliga a few years ago - much of the discussion was probably misleading - but I don’t live and breathe it and ultimately I don’t really give a shit about the structure of German football clubs.

Ultimately I wish the Premier League was in a position where the biggest threat to our league was a relatively benign energy drink company using their power and influence to finish 4th every year rather than state-owned sports washing ventures threatening to take down the entire league system if they don’t get to buy their way to the top every season like we have in England.

Well, exactly that is the point of it all though like I’ve said before in the thread. Wehret den Anfängen, stop something at the beginning before it’s too late and you wonder how the fuck you ended up there. The Premier League is indeed the main thing that will come up in the discussions what many fans in Germany don’t want to see happen. Once these rules are gone or completely underminded there’s nothing stopping that anymore. I don’t expect you to care about German football at all, I’m not even watching much myself tbh, but I don’t like when people act as if these people protesting don’t have a point or haven’t thought about it.

Is this coming to Prime in the US too or is it just in the UK? I know streaming rights get a little weird across international borders but I want to watch this the second it drops

It’s exclusive to Prime UK, Nordics, and Benelux, which is a shame. Not sure how it works with VPN, might be worth a try though?

It’s available on a few well known torrent sites for those who dabble in that sort of thing.
