Kostas TSIMIKAS: 2021/22

Six years of playing our system has created not only an incredibly efficient team with clearly defined roles but also an incredibly versatile team where different players can come into different positions without massive drop offs in performances. That sort of continuity only comes from a manager who doesn’t chop and change formations ala Rodgers. Change just for change sake isn’t advisable and we’re drilled and drilled and drilled in our play and movement so that knowing where to be, how to press, where and when to release the pass or make the run is now almost instinctive. Changing a formation changes the whole dynamic of everything we do. This isn’t Fifa 21 where you can just change the settings and all will still be well.

The lad has shown himself to be a bloody class act,and in doing he has created genuine competition for Robbo.
Robbo may have been off the pace(for him),but he’ll get his mojo back.
This is good for the whole squad and the club.

Not sure what is the reference to Fab and chicken. Someone posted this as the reference.

Tsimikas on Klopp:

“He told me what he wants. He was always next to me, always there when I needed to ask him something. I have a lot to thank him for. I used to play differently with Olympiacos.”

Tsimikas on Mo Salah:

“He is one of my best mates here. He was there for me to help me. He’s a very big person, fantastic. One of the best people I have ever met in my life.”

Another good game . Was his crosses a bit iffy last night !

Another Klopp/coaching staff masterclass. Rather than throwing him in an unsettled backline, they kept on grooming him.

Played really well today, one of our best players.

This guy plays well and that only fires up Andy and keeps Tsimikas out of games. What a mess

He looks quite awake there.

Well they say a dog looks like its owner…! Wonder what made him choose that breed :0)

If Carlsberg did back up left backs…

Almost as good as Andy, probably a better cross than Andy.

I cannot imagine as a backup of such quality to one of the best LBs in the world now that he will not be subjected to a big money enquiry. I wonder how long he will want to stay backup considering he is only 2 years younger than Robertson meaning as long as Robertson stays fit and on top of his form, he is not likely to get rid of him anytime soon. Good problem for us to have but I will not begrudge him if he one day decides to go. He looks like he is more than capable to be first choice for any top 5 teams in any top league.

I have always thought that if we want back ups the quality of those we have, we’re going to have to accept they are going to do a couple of years and then want to move on.

And i don’t see anything wrong with that, as often as possible they can be replaced from the academy (heard some good things about Owen Beck lets see where he is in a couple of years with his development).

Although it doesn’t fit in this instance the other way is getting the younger guy in to cover and compete with an older starter eventually earning the starting role. A season or so later the older guy may want to head off to where he can still be a starter elsewhere and you look for an academy graduate or young signing to take over as the cover/competition and restart the process.

Theres no hard and fast rules and some players in Tsimikas situation may he happy to stay quite a long time. He plays a bit still, what are his chances of losing his national team spot? If we really are contending for all honours would he get more playing time whilst still getting the same chances of honours? Is he happy living around here/emotionally made a connection to the club/fans?

Maybe if another team at our level offers him as much or more money he might get tempted but theres no guarantee that happens. Him and his national side arent very glamorous and at lots of clubs reputation and status still matter a lot.

Mignolet on the bench for a whole season then leaves. New guy Adrian comes in, Ali gets injured, and he’s playing Prem/Euro/etc games straight away. Then back to the bench, and then back again for another run of games.

But then again, imagine you were Mo Salah’s understudy. You’d never get game time, even in meaningless already qualified Champion League games

Bit different for full backs vs Goalkeepers mind.

He may wish to move on in be good if we could get him to play well on both sides then we’d have ultimate rotation.

He was pretty good again, though should’ve burried that chance early on, that was a terrible miss.
