How will this affect La Liga clubs?
90 per cent of the ā¬2.7 billion which CVC is providing will go to clubs, including more than ā¬100 million for womenās football and semi-pro leagues which are governed by the Spanish football federation.
It could be provided in the form of low interest loans, rather than grants, with the improvements generated allowing the clubs to repay to the fund over the long term.
Clubs who want to access the funding will have to submit development plans to La Liga ā and the money is to be spent for off-pitch projects, not transfers or player wages.
The list of potential uses given by La Liga includes sports strategies, infrastructure, international development, brand development, communication strategies, technology and digital content production.
For example this suggests that Real Madrid and Barcelona might be able to access funds to help with their stadium redevelopments, or develop new content to sell to fans around the world, but not to buy Kylian Mbappe or pay Lionel Messiās wages.
La Liga played down the short term impact of the cash injection, and instead insisted the purpose of the investment was to build for the future. To ensure that, they have demanded that member clubs commit to a plan focusing on developing their physical infrastructure and their brands.

The clubs must spend at least 70% of the money on investments related to long-term growth, 15% on refinancing their debt, and 15% can be used to increase their league-imposed spending limits.
The money has come with stipulations on how it should be used, with only a portion of it being allowed to be used towards increased salary. But barca dont need money so much from a cashflow perspective, they just need to put increased revenue on their books so their existing salary commitments become a suitably lower % of revenue. This accomplishes that, even if the money isnt āallowedā to be spent on salaries per se.

Not too bothered where he goes, a lot weāre saying about Barca needing his star name to bring money in but the deals above will help that and this probably benefits them in the long term.
If he ended up at City I wouldnāt be worried in the slightest, he is at the point where the name becomes bigger than the impact

How does this help Barca anyway? They have 4 other players that canāt be registered.

Itāll be an unpopular opinion and I think this discussion was done a lot last season as well, I donāt want him anywhere near our club. This is coming from a huge fan of his mind. The team he plays in tends to get built around him and lot of other players have to adjust their games accordingly. We are at a stage where I would rather continue building the way we have been this long. We already have a lot of players around 30 and I would rather we think long term given our short term is anyways awesome.
Messi had a contract at Barcelona worth Ā£100 million a year, apparently, and Barcelona wanted him to take a cut to Ā£50 million a year! There are only two clubs crazy enough to pay what he will demand, PSG and City. Pep insists City are skint (lying twat). So that leaves only one destination.
