If they do go on and win it then Suarez will have been the difference, they looked utterly bang average yesterday.
Apparently that was Oblak’s first penalty save in two years I think they said.
All three though haven’t been on form, games where you say they are brilliant and then next week some really awful grind of a result against Eibar or Huesca.
Spain is going through that era all leagues go through where it has to rebuild, you’d hope someone would emerge from it. They are still good sides but all of them need a shake up.
The difference in money between the top 2/3 and the rest is too big, it’s like football feudalism.
Pretty poor considering how Spain and Spanish clubs pissed all over the world with their domination in the last 15 years or so.
A little bit sad and beautiful at the same time to see teams like Getafe last season, working on absolute peanuts and punching above their weight.
You have the big two and Atletico now established as the 3rd. The 4th place is often up for grabs. Sevilla did well recently to slowly takeover that place, at least for now. I was shocked recently when I heard that Barca have 6 times more revenue than them.
Real and Barca are just not getting “punished” for unimpressive campaigns. The danger of losing CL/European football there is much smaller than in some other leagues. They’re still damn good, but in their own little world with all of that money.
So the top 2/3 are never really far away from the title this and last season. Sevilla have managed to secure a comfortable 4th spot for now. But the rest is left behind and you feel it more in games between the top and those more than in some other leagues.
Sevilla vs. Atletico this week. Hopefully the international break has rejuvenated Suarez enough to launch the final push for the title. Barcelona and Real are facing relegation fodders so not much help on that front.
