La Liga discussion

Ancelotti is the “GOAT”. :joy:

Pedantry is the last refuge of the witless. Let me be petty for a little while.

Mbappe has regressed big time as a footballer.

12 offsides from Barca, that is impressive.

A bit better than Rafa’s 10 in Turin in 2005.

I don’t think I ever saw a Barca side so compact. High last line is one thing, but then being compact by the width of the pitch also.

It probably has to do also with the moment and difficulty they have off the pitch and the season they had last season.

Probably gave someone like Flick the opportunity to come and really convince them this is the way to fix their defending issues as a whole. Would be interesting to see if it would work if Barca had a successful last season, a lot of proven stars in their peak, etc.

The way they camouflaged Lewa in defence/first phase of press is also clever. Raphinha is having an oustanding start of the season. Goals, assists, leadership, link up play, playing different positions, pressing. I feel Olmo will be big for them this season if he can stay fit and Barca has no issues registering him further.

Real are not out of it, but this was always going to be a big tactical question for Carlo (and he’s one of the best at finding the right way with stars on disposal) this season, what kind of balance can he find and how quick.

It is true that this wasn’t really a 0-4 type of performance all over the pitch for 90 minutes, Real missed some big chances. Some poor shooting by Vini and Mbappe. But still, it was well deserved by Barca, especially in the second half.

La Liga is not unpredictable (in terms of you can basically already guess the top 2 and 3), but whenever a big portion of the public thinks, like now, this is Real’s time: players, stars, Bernabeu redeveloped, CL’s falling from the sky… there you still have Barca with their issues off the pitch, still “surprising” on the pitch with Xavi’s title two years ago, now also looking good.

Jude Bellingham savaged by Spanish press after Real Madrid thumped by Barcelona

Story by Oli Gamp

Jude Bellingham was torn apart by the Spanish press after Real Madrid’s 4-0 thrashing by Barcelona on Saturday, with the England star being called “a shadow of his former self” at the Bernabeu.

Bellingham is one of Madrid’s most valued stars but is not having the same prolific season he had under Carlo Ancelotti last term, assisting just once and failing to score after seven appearances in La Liga so far.

The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes for Madrid but didn’t have an impact, with Marca blaming Carlo Ancelotti for failing to play him in his favoured position behind the striker.

Rio will be sitting out of the ceremony as well on principle. Everyone knows the award goes to the guy who scores the second goal of the CL final. Its the rules.

Who is actually winning it?

WTAF???

What reality do these cunts inhabit?

Holy shit. Militao was stretchered off with a bad knee injury. Looks like the other one to the one he did at the start of last year. Real seem cursed with knee injuries - Militao twice, Alaba, Courtois, Carvajal, Camavinga

Horrible for Militao, yeah. The situation in defence is really bad now. Age wise and now their main defensive guy getting another big injury. Surely they will have to be active very soon.

In the home end it seems :joy:

Barca have literally brought back Real and Atletico in the title race with the points they dropped after the Clasico.

Looks like Frenkie is getting some criticism from the crowd. Entering the final year of his deal, I think he might have to look for another club soon.

Raphinha meanwhile continues his brilliant form this season. 16 goals and 10 assists in 21 games, playing 3 different positions.

Romano:

BREAKING: Real Madrid have decided to change the name of their stadium, reports Marca! ‘Santiago’ will be removed, it will be called ‘The Bernabéu’ for marketing and commercial reasons.

More from minimalist warriors.

Reminds me of that time they removed the cross from their badge.

Apparently Olmo will become a free agent next week after Barca lost a court case to register him?

Can see Man City trying to sign him.
