He’s probably one of the lower tier contributors on the forum

You mean it’s a two tier forum?

Oh, you’ve not been invited to the Gold Tier even with your POTY award? So sorry.

Ex Army man I think too.

I’m not sure that’s the same guy. It would be an interesting career if he was.

Cant help but feel this clubs going backwards.

2 signings so far. 1 was boxed last year. Not a great window so far considering we need quite a few

Not too bothered to be honest. Have not been impressed with his signings and I think anyone could have signed the players he did. Paid over the odds for most, was more impressive with his renewals of players though!

Really isnt an easy situation. With a new manager needing to evaluate the squad and going heah to head with PSG and Real Madrid for some of our targets makes it difficult, as does the World Cup. Throw in clubs asking for crazy sums for the players this window and we just have to accept the recruitment team need time to get the right deals across the line.

I’ll refrain from judgment before it really happens, and the full facts are disclosed.

But IF Hughes leaves, he’ll have been the poorest appointment the club ever made. This is a long-term position, not one for a two-years stint. Also, leaving one of the biggest and most appealing clubs in the world in order to join some random rat hole in the desert seems incredibly ill-advised imo, even if said rat hole stinks oil and petro-dollars to the high heaven.

There is another scenario though: Hughes isn’t leaving because he wants to, but because fsg are fed up with him already (they’d have some good reason to, if I’m brutally honest), and have lined up his replacement.

And its very likely that we don’t think the same amount needs to be done as many fans do. You look some of the shouts from the Who Would You Buy thread and it’s not uncommon to think we need another 6 or 7 players. That is almost certainly not happening

It seems a bit odd after the club have just signed Iraola from Bournemouth as well. Unless, of course, they have put Bournemouth’s achievements more down to the manager rather than the director.

Yeah, very true. If there weren’t these persistent rumours, you’d never think that Hughes is about to leave.

But maybe these rumours are false after all, we’ll see.

Could be that the role itself is different across the two clubs, and he is finding it less enjoyable?

Part of the reason he took this one though was I thought because he knew Edwards quite well, so I wonder if it was done in part as a favour with a view to him moving on after a couple of years anyway. Or is this again a move because of the failure of the club to buy into other clubs?

I don’t even know if the job he is rumoured to be going to is even the same role?
