I think it felt more like he was making it clear that he joined because he wants to coach Liverpool and not just because his mate gave him a job.

as he was unemployed at the time and was told he could have a two year trial.
Doesn’t sound good does it… 
I know this story has been mentioned before but I don’t think my employer would want me doing multi million pound deals if I was fucking off in a couple of months. Maybe it’s just me

Melissa Reddy talked about it recently. She said that the fans have a right to feel concerned about the apparent void opening up at the club’s decision-level. Having your CEO’s and your sporting director’s contracts finishing in less than a year is a big factor of instability, especially when there is no clear communication about it.

I’m not sure it is. I think it is something people worry too much about. The club shouldn’t need to be communicating publicly on every minor thing. Let’s just trust the process and see how this summer works out first.

You’re making it seem like people have a choice.
Whether they worry or not, team leadership will do what they think is best. Whether they are proven to be right or wrong is another matter.
A choice to worry, they sort of do (depending on personality of course).

I used to like the fact we were a closed shop to gossip and so on, but with all the recent events something feels a little broken.
Thinking more on it, our stability was a huge strength. Playing staff, managers coaches, senior club management and so on all in place, with solid contracts and a slow evolution of the teams we saw on the pitch. Everything now feels rushed, and in need of significant change. And while the club may feel that everything is in hand and to a certain extent as expected, it doesn’t fill me with the confidence I’ve had on more than one occasion in the past.

It seems Gordon was involved in the Slot situation.
I think Edwards role is a bit redundant now. Could see both him and Hughes leaving at the end of this summer. Ward took over from Edwards in 2022 so maybe David Woodfine will replace Hughes? Seemed to be fairly front and centre with Iraola at the unveiling.

If the multi club strategy is going by the wayside, I’m not fully sure what the role is for Edwards. Arguably he replaces Hughes if Hughes ends up moving on, but that seems like a backwards step for Edwards so I doubt it will pan out like that.
As you say, Woodfine looks well placed to be DOF and it seems likely that both Edwards and Hughes will be gone by the end of their contracts, if not before for Hughes, once this window is over. Arguably another upstairs role might open up for Edwards, but it’s hard to know what the meaningful job is right now, without the multi club situation.

Depends if the whole business case for Edwards was the multi club model or there was other reasons for him being brought in.
We simply won’t know until it happens, after all we assume it was Henry who pulled the multiple club model but it could have been Edwards and perhaps an informal network maybe the way forward. After all multiple club models have caused issues outside of Red Bull and Man City’s grouping.

Is David Woodfine Liverpool’s next sporting director?
While at the training ground he was greeted by CEO of football Edwards and sporting director Hughes, both of whom were instrumental in his appointment.
Edwards, Hughes and technical director Julian Ward were present for parts of the tour but it was led by Woodfine. While this likely fell into his duties as assistant sporting director, that the 46-year-old is working so closely with Iraola could indicate his growing responsibility.

Makes sense as assistant to take over, I don’t think it means much for Edwards mind or Julian Ward who I forgot had returned.

Yeah, for Edwards, it would probably be seen as a step down, and from comments I’ve read on here Ward seems to prefer his current role, so the assistant stepping up would be the next logical choice if he is interested
