LFC Sporting Director thread

Endo would have intercepted that ball, or foul the player to prevent the 2nd goal today, instead of letting the barcodes player waltzed pass our midfield. Some may complain Endo is not at “our level”, but he would have done a proper job. Anyways, I am derailing the thread.

I’m baffled why none of them did it.

Seems Iraola was as well.

Can Bezos serve him his papers and get someone else to do these deals.

Really lost patience and I’ve generally supported him but this is getting like Guehi while all the while it’s hurting Iraola’s ability to move forward with the team.

Leaving a signing late in the window just means that there is no preseason training with the team and we spend a year playing catchup.

I think Barcola has also stopped team training. Least with Minteh it’s not particularly hampering eithier of us.

So basically even if we get them they won’t be ready until after Christmas

If he can’t see how utterly dysfunctional our midfield is then he’s blind

Barcola has done pre season so he should be fine but the more it lingers the worse it gets. We have the capital to do it now and I think we should. Take the hit or just walk away. Pretty sure if he had been there yesterday we’d have changed some of the ok chances into proper ones.

I believe the demand has also come down.

If this piece of guy candy has lost Matty’s support then his days are definitely numbered.

Fact is the worst kept secret is he is on his way out and it feels like it shows.

We’ve all been in that position working down our notice.

This is not a role that should involve working out notice; he should be on gardening leave if he’s not operating at 110%. If he is just going through the motions then the club would fire him immediately. Can’t have that in a role like this. I think fundamentally he was just an unimaginative and poor recruitment.

Well true but…

Imagine a job that you just do on Friday and if you are shite you get put on gardening leave..

Oh right that’s me taking the bins out every week and the missus puts me on gardening ‘leave’ even when I do my best

Where is this “he only works on Friday” coming from? A tongue in cheek piss take on Hughes not signing a player every week?

He didn’t relocate from the South Coast when he took the job and only goes into the AXA for the weekend.

Just looking at his background. Got a technical director job at Bournemouth. Got promoted and did a decent job. Move to Liverpool where he completely fucks the squad with poor forward planning. Gets offered mega bucks in Saudi.

How do I get into this line of work??

Richard Hughes is on track to performing worse than Damien Comolli…

Comolli at least signed Luis Suarez who is technically one of the best forwards that the club has ever seen, Craig Ballamy for free and Jose Enrique and Jordan Henderson.

Hughes? Fuck me, most of his buys were pretty underwhelming. Out of the 13 players signed in his time with LFC, the only one that showed some quality is Ekitike with the jury still out for Munoz, Jacquet, Leoni and Araujo.

The rest? It was expensive and underwhelming.

Just treat it as a side hustle - live the other end of the country from your place of work, take 6 day weekends only showing up on a Friday and phone it it whilst already working for your new employers (allegedly).

If you’ve any experience of playing games such as Championship/Football Manager you are probably over qualified though

So, you’ve already given up hope on the likes of Wirtz, Frimpong and Isak? I know that their first match this season wasn’t great, but I still reckon that you might eventually end up with a lot of egg over your face.

Also, he signed up Nduwke and Woodman. The first one looks like a player with a lot of potential, and the second has already proven to be a good third goalkeeper. Pesci as well, a potentially promising one.

Ekitike, if he manages to overcome his injury, has the potential to be a world-class player. So, not everything is that bad.
