I think a lot of the criticism has been way off base, but this has been such a strange episode. Not just that he’d be interested in leaving to do something as soulless as build a club in the Saudi league. But that it’s been an open secret for so long, almost from the time he joined.
As for his replacement, the fact they havent immediately announced Woodfine as the replacement suggests he isn’t going to get it.

If that’s an example of Hughes’ decision-making then we won’t miss him. Fancy giving up DoF at Liverpool, one of the world’s most prestigious sporting clubs, to go to a nothing dump like Al Hilal with their 8000 strong crowds. And it can only be for money, right? That’s the only possible reason and shows a distinct lack of character and ambition on his part. Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in Saudi will understand how he and his family will come to regret this move.

If he worked for Liverpool from a home base on the south coast I dont imagine he’ll likely be having to spend that much time in Saudi.

I think my assumptions are pretty fair and if the club has made a public announcement on the matter then fans are entitled to comment on it. He’s left Liverpool for Al Hilal which he says is a ‘fresh challenge’. He’s only been at the club for 20 months ffs so how come the challenge here is suddenly so stale? It’s about money, of course.
