Not great quality. I had the chance to go to Nashville or Chicago (the New York game would be a flight and I definitely wouldnāt do that for preseason). I decided to swerve it. I love LFC but this is a hybrid team, finding its way, easing toward match fitness and getting to grips with what Iraola wants. In short, Iām not so star struck that I would pay good money to go.
Iāve done it in the past with my lad, on a few occasions, but heās working and saving money for college, and we discussed it and both said, ānah.ā
We are dyed in the wool reds, and canāt wait for the season, but we sort of knew the score for these Preseason games and decided not to go in person.
They are all about the fitness. They have been doing doubles and are learning what Iraola wants to implement.
I was glad for a win but itās irrelevant in many ways. Rio, big deflection, goal. Nice and all, but didnāt really matter a who,e lot.
Ndukwe looks a player. So does Ndiaye. They formed a decent partnership and looked to have things well under control, spreading calm and exerting authority, even as young players. That may have been the most important part of the whole thing.
Apart from that the pitch was poor, with seams, and also very narrow.
Onwards and upwards. Press the flesh. Kiss some babies. Build the fan base. But most importantly, build fitness and listen intently to what Iraola wants for the season proper.

A bit strange to see a team sitting so deep in a preseason game
Bit of a meh game.
Gillespie co-commentating was a noise, like one of those people who sit on the table next to you munching on their roasted peanuts, just waffling on.
Pitch was shocking, I appreciate the commercial aspect but that pitch was just asking for an injury.
Player wise:
Chambers and the other CBās did what they had to do.
The Greek looked good.
I would rather we focus our time on Ramsay than Frimpong - I just donāt see a top level player there.
Slobs a different level, negative is the increasingly annoying arrogance.
Rio did what Rio does, work in progress.
I thought Koumas and Wright applied themselves well all be it in different styles.
McConnell is one player I would like to see given more game time this season. Him and Nyoni were tidy, but I just feel he gives us something the other CMās donāt.

Ndukwe is undoubtedly the nicest surprise. Very composed and impeccable positioning. Dom looking ready, Will Wright starved of service but tried, McConnell was great when he came on as was Kostas. Elliot, well, the less saidā¦ and Jones didnāt put a single challenge in.
Forgot to mention Trey. Very good again and looks like heās giving the manager something to think about.

Iv noticed that a bit of that from Slobs last season. Today, in the first half there was a simple square ball to Nyoni. He kind of danced over the ball abit, looked to play it to Kerkez and then finally played it to Nyoni.

I have a bit of sympathy for Elliott, he is definitely talented but unfortunately he has never been given the time/chance to make a position his.
I was really happy for him getting the move to Villa last season (at first) and yet he basically lost a year of football because of club politics/financial implications.
