Giving a rollicking to a seasoned professional and players who have been in and around the 1st team, i.e Rio ok, but rollicking Will Wright in his 1st start, no.
He could easily have been more encouraging and Curtis never struck me as that type of person, i.e rollicking he always came across as a cajolling type of player.

Yes theoretically we could try and sell Mac Allister and replace him, but thatâs a lot of work to do on top of grtting a winger, CB and possibly RB. Heâs also a player Iraola hasnât even had a chance to look at yet. He probably would like to assess him before signing off on letting him go. But you could also argue that selling a midfielder who has been a starter in a team that won the Premier League, the World Cup and made another final is weakening the squad. And this is in the last 15 months its not like it was a decade ago.
Unless Iraola is banging on the table that he needs a new midfielder I just donât see it as being top of our list of things to do.
Iraola is a coach who I believe has been given a job of improving what we have. We donât physically have the players to do it in the winger roles nor in defence. In midfield we should, at least theoretically, be able to get a much better performance out of them than Slot was able to last season. Theyâre all signficantly better players than we saw last year.
To be fair to Hughes Harvey was given the choice to go to Leipzig but he chose to stay in the PL and was very unlucky that Emery wasnât told that Villa were going to shoehorn a loanee from Liverpool.
Heâs got no room to be bollocking anyone. Was anyone bollocking him for barely putting in one challenge for the ball or strolling back when Wrexham won the ball? i would also argue that getting a fit and engaged macca and adding nyoni to the midfield is actually good business. people forget how good macca is when he is engaged (see the wc) like in previous seasons. dude has one bad season and he is not up to it anymore. he covered the most distance in most games for argentina during the world cup.
Got to wonder if that particular bit of information Liverpool have put out there themselves in order to to keep expectations from selling teams in check.
What I donât understand is being from Austria which being a European country, you would think the rules would be different for him in getting a work permit. The other thing is with the games he will have played in preseason, do the points he needs to accumulate not count?
My understanding of the Ndukwe work permit thing is that he doesn;t qualify
to play for a [Premier League side because a player must receive a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) from the FA, which a club then uses to obtain a work visa from the Home Office.
To qualify automatically, a player needs to score 15 points across several categories or meet senior international appearance criteria. Iâm not sure that if Austria gave him a full international selection he would then immediately qualify. But otherwise he needs to get experience in a top European league to gain more qualifying points.
His fellow 18-year-old Mor Talla Ndiaye seemingly has not faced the same restriction because the club likely utilised one of their few ESC (Elite Significant Contribution) slots when he arrived but we have precious few of them. What is unsure is if we sell or loan a player with an ESC slot to another European club whether their ESC can then be transferred to Ndukwe. I canât imagine the backroom staff aren;t working on something to get around the situation.
the entire midfield struggled last season, ryan was not himself, neither was macca. a lot of it had to do with tactics, slot ball and the team just being so unfit. Under iraola, it will be a different unit at least fitness wise because the whole world knows AI is a klopp clone when it comes to fitness.
Well, the club can compel him to enroll into a special physical training program (say, a Klopp-style brutal training program) to get him into shape. Donât forget that he barely played for an entire season.
He will certainly be better after getting into shape.
And if Iraola is already doing what I just said, we can only wait. Getting into shape takes time.
