Liverpool FC - Pre-season (Part 2)

He’s a pretty average goalkeeper to be honest. Had big gloves to fill after Kelleher left and as it turns out, he is not even close to his level.

Kelleher is pretty poor in the air still, he has his flaws.

I don’t think eithier are close to Alisson, that’s what Iraola has to solve this season as I’m sure it’s Becker’s last.

What you have to hope going forward if Marma is our choice is a player who learns from Alisson, like Kelleher did.

However I’m just a goalie so what do I know

In my very humble opinion, Kelleher is the second best keeper we’ve had since I started watching us in '95 ish. He’s not Alisson, but who is.
Reina is the only other keeper we’ve had who maybe is as good or some would say better (not in my view, but it’s close).
Mama is ok as a backup for a team wanting to win the league, but nothing more. We’ve seen more than enough of him to see that he’s never going to be an adequate first choice for us. Replacing Ali is going to be some task!
So you’re a goalie? …good for you little buddy.

To be honest Reina was better.

And then there is a drop off. I actually can’t think of a decent goalie until he arrived. Yes some are cult hero’s but a good goalie we didn’t see until Reina showed up.

I don’t think Marma is the future but I’m not sure Kelleher is for us.

Muñoz vs Como

MASTERCLASS. It wasn’t exactly that.

He was lively though, I thought him and Nyoni were particularly good.

You probably wouldn’t get many views if you titled your compilation video ‘Victor Munoz ran about for a bit looking better than some Italian academy kids but with no end product’ :joy:

I wonder; if the same guy made a compilation of the Thiago game vs Man City at Wembley, what he’d call that. If this was a masterclass.

Ooo good to see Jacquet finally, expected Munoz and Trey would make the bench.

Possibly Jacquet first half and Araujo second half for the prize of starting the season next to VVD?

So of the lads who came off early this morning, Elliott and Chiesa dont get a second go. Not sure if its worth even debating whether this is fitness related or simply where they are in the pecking order given how tightly those seem to be related.

Jones’ “hip problem” continues I guess.

Frimpong putting his hand up to say “hey dont forget about the audition for RB”

As in whether we even bother playing with one given the options available? :joy:

I imagine this won’t be too far off our team vs Newcastle, I guess main questions are over Araujo starting over JJ and Ngumoha vs Munoz

Kelleher isn’t elite level, but he’s a very very good keeper. I think when Ali goes we need to be signing the best available option, almost regardless of cost. A world class keeper is often the difference in the big moments

If anyone has a WOW or Sky Deutschland sports subscription, the match is listed on there for this evening.
