Liverpool Loan Watch

I dont think there is anything surprising there. We’d like to think our prospects would go down a level and shine immediately, but senior football is far more competitive than that. The loan is supposed to be a learning process not a rubber stamp of our kids being better than championship players from day 1 and so it shouldnt be that surprising that a 20 year old with very little senior experience and who had barely played football of any capacity in 18 months is struggling physically. What it sounds like is the manager is giving him time to get used to the demands and has expectations that he’ll get there. All in all it sounds like a decent situation for him under the circumstances.

It’s in particular the mention of the tactical side of things that has me worried…

Yeah I get that, but also not that unexpected. Kids who thrive on their loans tend to do so because their physical and technical abilities make up for their inexperience and tactical naivety, and the loan is meant to help them bring that up. With Gordon still working to get back up physically after the best part of 2 years out it would make sense that tactical part of his game is more apparent.

Missed completely that Mamardashvili picked up a leg injury a few weeks ago.

Valencia having an absolutely horrible season though, in danger of relegation.

I wonder will Gordon get recalled as he is struggling to get minutes at Norwich.

Gordon’s alive?

Apparently Ramsay is coming back as of tomorrow, although with a plan to find him a new loan rather than to use him.

Lewis Dobbin has joined Norwich City on loan from Aston Villa - in a move I expect is pre-empting Kaide Gordon’s loan spell being terminated.

Scanlon suffers new hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, Mamardashvili conceded 7 last night.

He’s having a bit of a nightmare season at Valencia all right, although when I last looked a bit more deeply into it, the general consensus was Mama himself is doing pretty well, and without him they’d be much worse off.

At least he’s getting lots of practice!
