we’re a bit more that that…surely.
Gomez and Konate in the middle of defence for one…
(not that i have anyway of watching)

I was thinking of Chambers and Davies.
But no, we’re not really. 8/11 of the starting team were teenagers against a side who’s average age is about 28.
We have created an a couple of chances this half.
I am a bit surprised that Strasbourg did not run at our young players more. Then again, I think that our mid field and attack are doing quite well controlling the match after the first 20’.
Plus it’s our fourth choice keeper.
The kids will learn to switch flanks more in order to disrupt Strasbourg defensive line. We are overloading on the right, which left acre of space on our left for attack.
The result shows we are in serious trouble if we have to use that team for a CL final.
Only 3-0 in the end which is not bad considering the team we had out.
Konate is a bit of a concern after his limping off tbh, otherwise a great learn experience for our youngsters.
Yeah only worry.
We sent the kids out, we will be okay!!
So that makes it Tsimikas, Ramsay, Ox, Kelleher, Jota and probably Konaté and the season have not even started yet …
Well, it could be worse. It is what is is. Happens unfortunately. Some of them will come back soon because their injury has happened before preseason even started i think.
Sorry. Total fuckin shambles. Wtf was the point? If the u23s need a game, let them play Tranmere or Preston. Why on earth play this game one day after the CS?
The Boss said that this match was supposed to be for some of the other 1st team players…but some of these players were injured (e.g. Ox), or were not involved due to precautionary reasons (Curtis … this came as a surprised, Naby was ill). With so many players not available, it became a more of a youth team exercise.
Normal service has resumed.
In its own way it is still helpful for the youth players, as they see the sort of level they have to attain, and go beyond, if they want a future at LFC. Sounds like a tough start, but we held our own better as the game wore on, so there’s a sense they were learning on the job, which augurs well.
No other starter was within 10 years of Milner. I know he’s old but that tells you how young a team we put out. Was always going to be a fitness exercise for some on the fringes with the rest made up of youth players given we played the CS yesterday.
Dunno why it was the day after that, maybe the only slot to get a home game in before the season starts for real? Perhaps a test for the new ticket system or to try out the new pitch that was laid this summer. Maybe some new stewards needed a dry run to complete their training.
Whatever the reason, it’s a good experience for some of the young lads and a chance to get some kids a trip to Anfield that they might struggle to do on a normal matchday.
Reports Jones and Keita would have played but both have niggles, Keita should be fine for Fulham.
Not buying a centre mid this summer is going to look like a very bad decision if this turns out to be one of those Keita niggles where it gets reported that it’s nothing serious and then we don’t see him for a month or two.
