My only problem with changing to 4-2-3-1 as our primary formation (which makes a ton of sense in a lot of ways), is do we really want a base formation that moves Salah farther from goal (even if its only a little)?

I know itās preseason and itās to get fit and stay injury free but I still want us to draw first blood of old hag reign and see redcafe go apeshit when they lose to Liverpool in preseason.
Mabaya I think has a future at CM, heās powerful and good in possession, more of a runner than a passer (I believe he holds some sprint records for Lancashire school kids).
If he gets the chance expect him to knock the ball and run in 1v1 situations, heās so strong and quick that itās hard to stop. Doesnāt turn over possession very much. Not a great crosser, more of someone who aims to get to the byline than whip it in from deep.
Long term I see him in the 8 role currently held by Keita/Ox where that place and progressive runs can be a direct goal threat.
Chambers is an England U19 international. For me heās not quite as good as Mabaya but apparently England selectors disagree. Can play CB - as he did for the U18s last season - or LB as he does for England will do today. Pacey, touch undersized for a CB prospect. Heās the current U18 captain. Getting his chance here because of Beckās loan to Portugal. Heās a defender first and foremost but has played higher on occasions also.
I know Morton was called out by Klopp for training well as an 8 but thatās not a surprise to anyone who saw him at youth level, heās been an 8 all the way through the ranks.
