Liverpool Season 2022-23

Neither Keita or Jones will be back this weekend :pensive:

You obviously did not listen to Klopp this afternoon, nobody will be back this weekend.

Matip and Jones start training on Monday and Jota an Thiago are not far behind

The game will now take place on Saturday October 29, with a kick-off time still to be confirmed.

The fixture has been moved from Sunday October 30 due to the Reds’ Champions League meeting with Napoli being scheduled for Tuesday November 1.

NT Break

Will Tuchel still be there?

After the Newcastle game, I thought about how this season created a feeling in my head that was a mixture of the best and the worst of 2011/12 and 2020/21 seasons. Season starting with a lot of optimism that quickly evaporated, then swinging between highs and lows, key players getting injured, inability to get consistent performances or at least results but still enough to have something to show for it in the end (a League Cup trophy or a top four finish), even if it was veiled in a sense of disappointment.

I really don’t know what to expect of it anymore. Klopp’s attempts to evolve this side are constantly met with a torrent of injuries to players who were key to that evolution and I can only imagine how he feels every time he’s contacted by his medical staff or when he sees Keita going down in training or Alcantara clutching his hamstring in a match. It’s a shame because this is the only season aside from 2020/21 where I thought that Man City are vulnerable and that we can win the title - remind me never to feel optimistic about Liverpool’s prospects again!

I’m not sure if it’s an interesting take so much as repeating the same things that have been said on these forums ad nauseam. I can buy the emotional/mental fatigue, but so far this season, we’ve played more often without Nuñéz than with.

Also, the whole thing about Mané moving to the centre restricting him is nonsense, if anything he actually had more shots, which completely undermines Liew’s point.

He had a higher xG, he just wasn’t and isn’t, for whatever reason, scoring.

No Elliott, that is remarkable.

List B. He’s young enough.

No Keita, well deserved omission regardless of his current injury situation.

There are a lot of very good footballers in there

Well deserved???

He’s statistically one of our best midfielders.

Just completely given up on him, I can only hang on so long. I am sort of hoping Jurgen has given up on him and will try get some money come next window. Just 100% unreliable to get him playing well and then getting injured thereby fucking up any rhythm.

Liew is just dreadful on football. Should stick to table tennis or cricket or whatever sport he actually understands deeply (Oh, stupid me I thought a football journalist at the Guardian may actually be expected to really know the game!)

Why is Bajcetic in the A list, not the B list?

Surely both Elliott and Jones would be A list over him?

Humor Boomer GIF

Bajcetic hasn’t trained with English clubs for at least two years.

Thanks.

I thought he was still young enough to not need it.

You learn something new everyday

Like that “every day” is two separate words in this case. It is only one word when used as an adjective to describe something normal or mundane.
