Liverpool Season 2024/25

Just noticed we don’t have one of these for the current season. A bit late, but here we go anyway.

Great start, obviously. Couldn’t really expect much more of a new manager coming in, but the season will be defined by the run of games starting after the international break.

Not sure why we need this thread, to be honest with you.

There is plenty of discussion in match threads and Arne’s thread, as well as in the Premier League thread, about our upcoming matches and the like. :man_shrugging:

I posted in the Arne Slot thread that this run would be the one to get TAN knickers wet when we have any slight issue.

It’s going to be tough, but we also have a good squad with decent depth - we need the luck in terms of injuries.

Of that run, the ones that really worry me are Arsenal away and City at home - which I believe we have to win at least one of. The rest of the fixtures are tough, but during this run, our competitors also have tough patches. Essentualy, I’d expect us to remain in the top 3 by the end of the Everton tie, and within 3-4 points of 1st, if we aren’t first.

Real Madrid - I’d take a draw.

Feels like while we’ve had a great start, the real business begins now (or rather in a fortnight lol).

It will be interesting to see where we sit in the table by the Merseyside derby.

The entire raison d’etre of this thread is to get on your tits.

We have had one of these every season since 1892, as you well know. In fact, you posted a reply to me in the first thread - ‘Totally agree Craig, Everton can bugger off to Goodison. We’ll never hear from them again’.
That was the last time you and me agreed on anything. Happy days.

The key to success, just like we saw between 2018-2020, is keeping the squad fit and healthy.

Soon as the pieces of the puzzle start to fall out of place is when you’re most at risk of your season collapsing, just like we saw between 2020-2024.

International Break already, seriously

Yeah this will be key. Can afford injuries in some positions but not others

Looking forward to Prolix’s side-by-side comparison to last season.

I won’t be doing a fixture-by-fixture comparison because I think Slot deserves to establish his own precedent. I could be convinced to do the xG for/against graph though.

Will take 8 wins in the PL thanks Craig and whatever we get in the UCL and LC.

Really? No time zones!

I thought Darwin was still suspended?

If we do it after 7 games we are 2pts ahead.

Game comparison if you switch Ipswich for Burnley we are 1pt down and one goal down.

Suspension was reduced on appeal

It has been a DREAM start for Arne Slot!

We’re in 1st place. We’re doing well in the CL.

I expect us to beat Chelsea on the 20th. The tough challenge will be Arsenal away the next week.

But still you could hardly write a better script for a succession story from Jurgen Klopp.

I feel cautiously optimistic about our chances! Up the Reds, YNWA!
