We’re so much better when we play through Salah rather than down the left. The speed of play is completely different, not allowing the opposition defence to get set.

My (actual) local — USL Third Division, Portland Hearts of Pine 
— is in the playoffs in its first season later, so I hope this is a springboard to that game. The owner was on Tim Howard’s podcast recently, is an LFC fan, and named his dog Anfield, writing “she’ll never walk alone.”

Still look a little too vulnerable defensively but a lot of positives.
However, we have played reasonably well against all the teams that try to play footy from the back.
Not perfect but a lot more enjoyable today, still at times too much of a basketball game.
I think Digne has found that out.
We played a bit better, a little more sharpness about us. Not vintage or anything, but an improvement, and we are well worth the half time lead.
Let’s build on this second half. So far so good.
The most pleasing thing is the pride they are showing. They are wounded, having lost so many. The football can improve, but I’m pleased to see the fight is there.

The same vulnerabilities are there because of the shape, but the improvement in sharpness and commitment is notable. Keep going, reds.

Way better performance today. They putting alot of energy into the game. Pressing the ball. Midfield is balanced. Robertson much better LB than Kerkez.

Much better pressing than we’ve seen in a long while, led by Dom from his last season position.
For Villa, Rogers causing problems. Need to sort that out during the break.
Nice first time finish from Mo after Martinez have it away. Brings a smile to the face after his time wasting tactics.
