Liverpool Youth Teams Thread

Who assisted the first :hushed: :hushed:, if he’s the same guy who scored the 2nd then he’s got one hell of a lefty.

Through to the QF of the youth cup.

Pitluga’s debut is a Final (Presidents cup). Kind of a charity shield game. https://x.com/stpatsfc/status/1756044022248772005?s=20

Not a great game from young marcelo.

Will have to improve to reach the level of league of Ireland. Plenty of good League one standard players around.

Great league for a youngster like himself to improve though!

Noticed young Koumas on the bench yesterday, scoring goals for fun with the u21s including another 2 today. Is he ahead of the likes of Gordon now in the developmental line?

Fairly certain for Gordon it’s mainly a matter of avoiding a Bajcetic/Jones-like situation where they have recurring injuries for a couple of years.

It’s not necessarily that one or the other is “above” but just more of a week to week thing. Gordon played very well in the U21s last game, where Koumas scored twice.

I know that a lot of these appearances have been enforced by injuries but looking at Trent, Jones, Kelleher, Quansah, Bradley and Elliott, who are every inch Liverpool players, the new guy will have an awful lot to live up to when it comes to Klopp’s treatment of academy products and young players in general.

You must be so much fun at parties

You’re assuming he gets invited to parties…

I hadn’t realised he had only played 3 games for Blackburn. Was a good player, linked to us a couple of times but I don’t know how serious that interest was.

You lot are all missing the point. The real question is, who’s next?

Because we’re almost definitely going to need them on Wednesday.

Im not sure there will be any new faces for Wednesday as it seems we will have a couple of first teamersback to at least make the bench.

I expect starts for Bradley, Quansah, Clark, McConnell, Danns and maybe Gordon or Koumas. Nyoni will likely be in the squad but probably not play.

The next lads in line, if any other spots are available would be Scanlon (LB), Kone-Doherty (LW) or Morrison (RW). Maybe outside shouts could be Nallo or Pitt (both CBs) but I don’t think we need CB cover right now.

Honestly as much as I want more youth involvement, once we get beyond Scanlon, Kone-Doherty and Morrison I think we are digging pretty deep. Pitt and Nallo have done well this season but they are pretty raw and not comparable to someone like Quansah.

120 minutes for Virgil, and 105 minutes for Konaté, I’d be really concerned about overplaying them, especially Konaté, not when we have a gruelling schedule ahead…

I think it’ll be Quansah and Gomez at CB for Southampton.

I’m not expecting Scanlon, with both of our LB’s fit. Plus, it seems like he’s currently very (or too) offensive to start at LB in a competitive game.

The Athletic:

“Jaydon Danns is the academy’s leading scorer with 21 goals so far this season and has been on the books at Kirkby since 8 years old after being spotted playing futsal locally.”

“Danns was sidelined for nearly a year due to knee pain caused by Osgood-Schlatter’s disease after rapidly growing from 5’2 to 6ft, but he has developed impressively over the course of this season and has filled out physically”

Not sure if Sasa Kalajdzic (26) had the same disease but he also grew rapidly at the age of 17. He recently had his third ACL injury in 5 years and it seems like his body never got used to it.
