Surprise, surprise.

But hopefully that means Gomez is good to be in the squad (maybe the starting team?) today.

Oh my days…

Bar Man Utd are amazing, every ref is shit and we are going finish outside Europe.

Now let’s see if that works as a reverse jinx

Edit

Jack Pilling played for Liverpool over eight decades ago, making 118 appearances between 1942/43 and 1945/46.

He’s 21 but looks about 12.

Liverpool currently have 15-year-old Crusaders striker and Northern Ireland youth international Michael Mulholland on trial.

He scored twice and got an assist for Liverpool U16 in a 4-0 win last night vs Copenhagen.

Supposedly a done deal!

Trey Nyoni scored one and assisted one…Must felt <10 minutes in the FA Cup whetted his appetite.

Rio Ngumoha determined to have a goal credited to him one way or another, without an assistant referee having bad eyesights to deny him.

Wright 24’
Nyoni 29’
Ngumoha 41’
Morrison 49’

This is an interesting thread

Interesting, though not sure I like all of those ideas.

We’ll see how it looks like.

I can’t view the thread, does it explain what ā€œno forced transition from U18 to U21ā€ means?

Ok I understand it’s just saying they will allow players to excel at U18 level rather than bring them up to become a squad player for the U21s. So expect our teams to look a little older.

I have been thinking for a while now that our focus at youth level went to extreme end of ā€œresults don’t matter at youth levelā€ and we have taken a few absolute poundings in the last couple of seasons. I do think that while winning U18 games shouldn’t be the focus, if it causes detriment to development, but we should be reinforcing that winning games is important. That when you wear our shirt you’re expected to win.

So no harm in letting those players experience a winning culture rather than forcing every team to be younger and younger.

The flip side is that if a player is individually very dominant at that level it could be a hindrance to them to hold them back but I’m guessing a particularly excellent player will still be fast-tracked - for example Joshua Abe.

I don’t want to take anything away from the direction of the last few posts but I really have to ask about Abe - Twitter is rife with rumours of his impending departure to Man City (after signing with Trent’s brother’s agency that, in all honesty, seemingly represents a few other Liverpool players). Is he really such a big talent that he warrants all of that attention at the age of 15? How does he compare to Ngumoha, for example?

I’d say he’s better right now than Ngumoha was when he first joined. Doesn’t have the blistering pace of Ngumoha but has a better all around game. He’s a huge talent.

ā€œYoung players are allowed to have an agent from the September of the academic year when they turn 16 and Abe is represented by the agency PLG, which is co-owned by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brother, Tyler. The Liverpool trio of Andy Robertson, Calvin Ramsay and Luke Chambers are among their other clients.ā€

Interesting.
