Great for the kids to play in what it looks like a first team environment.

Looks like he is using the pitch to negotiate the contract extension.

Having looked at their team at least 8 have had some first team football and around 5 seem regular first teamers, I think only Nallo is close to seeing any for us. I know the league is a drop off but that’s always going help players.

Anyhow its probably a good work out for the lads.

Terrible defending.

Yeah that makes some of our first team examples look brilliant.

Love that they are playing in a full stadium. I wish more youth games drew large crowds - players currently go from playing infront of 70 people to 70,000.

Do the international youth league matches often have packed stadiums, or this is one of the one off?

A one off. There are a few places that get good turnout, I think Real Madrid do for example but this is pretty unusual for such a game.

It’s more where they play, if the first team stadium is available or there is willingness to have it there. People from such countries are excited when Liverpool (even U19s) come. I was there when they played in Zagreb in 2019, it was also packed, but to a limit, because the game was played basically where Dinamo train and it only had one stand. No doubt there would’ve been more people if it was held somewhere else.

For sure, and no doubt excitement plays a large part as well as the venue. We’ve had plenty of games at Anfield and the crowd is around 2000-3000 people usually. I went to a Leicester City U21 game at the KP Stadium the year they won the PL and there were probably 50 people at most.

English fans by and large just care about the 1st team, which is entirely understandable.

Yeah good run out for the U19s I like the environment there and they played against 4/5 first team regulars so that extra experience looked to show.

It would be interesting to see how Liverpool would do in these tournaments if we actually fielded our strongest available team. For example; Jayden Danns, Clae Ewing, Keyrol Figueroa, Wellity Lucky (I think would have played if not for injury), Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, Carter Pinnington, Lucas Pitt and Noah Adekoya were all eligible but its not really our development strategy to drop players down to play in these games. I’d really like to know how far they would go though!

Yeah its pretty much the reserves of their team playing our U19s, its no big loss and a good learning curve for the lads. I used to go and watch Liverpool reserves in the 90s at Southport, used to get a decent attendance for that, you would sometimes get some first teamers returning from injury needing match fitness or not having gone on international break.
