Lost 2-1, very poor second half from Liverpool after a comfortable first.
VDB was clearly our best player, defended well when everyone around him went to pot, scored our goal and created a big chance late on. Nice to see him playing well.
Tyler Morton did well at times in midfield, created a few chances and made some good runs off the ball. Not much else to shout about, a couple of decent first half performances but that’s about it.
Ended 2-1 Blackburn. Poor performance 2nd half, Liverpool unhappy to see what looked a good penalty appeal turned down in the last few minutes but realistically they just didn’t play well enough.
Mixed bag. A few small errors, some good stuff. That kick was excellent, as was another throw out, but he misplaced a fair few as well. His handling on a couple of occasions was good when they had shots on target. Came off his line once, didn’t win the ball, but lucky to get away with it.
Wouldn’t expect a 17 year old to be perfect but you can see some potential there. He looks like he’s a commanding presence and very, very confident.
I hate when they schedule youth games for the same time as first team games. These players are supposed to aspire to be in the first team yet they can’t even see the first team play!
Hope it’s not a long one for Balagizi, he looked absolutely mustard once again in the highlights of the latest game.
Owen Beck training with the first team, presumably due to Tsimikas’ injury. Would think there’d have to be a few more injuries before he’d get a game (although he’s done fairly well this year). Maybe he’ll play vs Villa.
Owen Beck playing in a Premier League would scare me. I’m impressed by how he’s done these past couple of seasons but I think he’s a lot more Sam Hart than Alexander-Arnold.
FT: LFC U23s 3-4 Spurs - a terrific display from the young Reds and they should have won this game after dominating territory + possession. Conceded three from set pieces and a winner on the counter. Goals from @liammillar11 Tyler Morton + @jakkbearne10 while @Owenbeck02 was MOTM. Andy Kelly.
Liverpool made a ‘last-minute attack’ to secure his signature.
An emissary from the club travelled to Vigo yesterday to ‘take care of travel procedures’ and help the youngster settle at his new club. [@Farodevigo via @Sport_Witness]
