Tried again with the paddle board this morning. Too rough unfortunately. I could have pushed on but with some heavy showers and white tops starting to form it made for an uncomfortable experience. Pulled the plug on it. Only 0.8 miles this morning.
Next time in weather like this I’ll hit the river. Flat calm there.

Hit a plateau again on the weight loss. Stuck at 76.
On the other hand my running times have improved thanks to the suggestions here by @Arminius. Managed to do 8km in 37 min.
Weight loss doesn’t happen linearly so this sort of thing will happen. It’s possible you have hit a real plateau and to make additional improvements you’ll have to make more changes, but a short plateau doesn’t guarantee that. If what you have been doing has worked, have a big of patience and give it another week or two to see if you see any resumption of movement and only add in additional changes if you don’t see the improvements start back up.
Not too unhappy with my current weight although i would like to get it down by another 3kg. I am getting to a stage wherein i need to do some weights.
Its still a mighty big weight loss in 15 months from 94 to 76 though

I am able to run faster but there is this lingering pain in the right kneecap area which i will have to get checked. I am running with a knee strap right now and that isnt ideal.
The whole problem with weight loss is it comes down to what you are eating. India is a carb heavy cuisine and with my body being used to carbs , its really tough trying to break the mould.
Dont believe the hype…carbs per se don’t provide any additional obstacle to weight management. For lots of people, cutting back on carbs may be the most viable avenue, but that’s only because they are not accounting for other more relevant issues. Are you filling in a lack of protein with carbs (the problem here is lack of protein)? Are you getting your carbs from highly processed hyper palatable foods that promote lack of satiety, over consumption and unconscious eating? If the answer to those is yes, then you might be eating too many carbs, but the issue isnt carbs themselves, but the choice of them and what you are missing.

I agree. Just that when it’s Indian cuisine. Straight from breakfast and onwards, you are fixed on the sense that rice needs to be there. Let’s just say that even a “dosa” for instance has 2.5 portions of rice to 1 portion of lentils.
I like rice and I like carbs. But the amount that Indians have at the expense of proteins isn’t correct. Atleast as of the sedentary lifestyles that are present now. If it’s an active lifestyle , Have as much rice as you want. Otherwise, with the glycemic index of rice being what it is , It’s not ideal.
And people have to substitute the carbs for proteins or natural fat. Goes without a saying.
I think the mangoes are a much bigger problem. Also known to slow your running down.
Yeah I know. I don’t generally have them due to my allergy issues but having a mango just wants me to go and sleep. Anyway, Set meself a target of 15km in 1.5 hrs tomorrow. Let’s see
Nailed my longest ever run at the weekend and after a fairly heavy week of running too.
Did 9.5 miles (just over 15km for those of you who like metric) in an hour and 27 minutes. About a 60/40 split of off road (canal paths, footpaths etc) and on road.
Was my fifth run of the week racking up 28 miles in all so the legs were pretty dead the past couple days. Did give me the confidence that a half marathon was pretty attainable from here so got signed up for one and a couple off road adventure type runs/races too. Hoping I might be able to get close to 2 hours for the half with a couple months until the event and a real objective on the horizon to help keep my eating on track.
Can’t believe I didn’t start this whilst we were in lockdown and only figured out the flexibility to fit this in as the world returned to normal.

Becoming jealous of everyone’s efforts on here now. My hip has got worse again over the last couple of days. Getting me down now. As a result the my eating hasn’t been disciplined either. Not that it was before, but this hasn’t helped.
Did 14 km in 1 hr and 24 minutes (mixture of footpaths, concrete roads etc today. Wanted to push it a bit more but I needed to take a dump. And yeah , the legs are pretty much dead right now.

This is pretty much my intent as well. I think 21km in 2 hrs is doable for an average runner.
Stopped intermittent fasting for a while ( after some 45 days) , will probably restart after a 2 week break.
Not that it was overly tough to keep but my job entails me to travel and i find it hard to keep both the running as well as intermittent fasting routines. Decided to sacrifice the intermittent fasting as i am content with my weight right now.
As far as running goes , just did a 1 hr run
Break down
First 30 min - 6.5 km
Second 30 min - 4.5 km
Not happy with the tapering off during the second 30 min but i went flat out in the first 30 min split and then had to encounter heavy traffic (read walkers) etc etc during the second split. Should ideally have been close to 5.2 to 5.3km there.
What did the physio say ?
I have an non optimal right knee (which happened because of an accident where my patella got fucked) and i would be lying if i said it didnt affect me now. I started jogging because my knee started acting up when i was trying a walk…
The knee is still not okay by the way and it doesnt let me really shoot when i am trying to kick the ball with it( major reason why i dont play football that much anymore)
I playes 6 a side for fun with my cousin and his group (he and i generally stuck to playing passes. Just cant kick the ball with any modicum of power anymore. Its damn frustrating not being able to do what i love.
I can understand the frustration. Everything physical hurts at the moment. I missed a nice little surf day on Friday. I’ve not seen the physio yet. This Thursday for an initial consultation. 100% it’s a trapped nerve and probably related to sciatica. Thankfully it’s slowly loosening this last couple of days but I need to figure out how to properly stretch it and loosen that whole area.
I’m strongly suspecting this is a Covid hangover. Getting old sucks.
