Luis Diaz (LW) Barcelona

Can you just pop round and ask him to stay?

He has the best song so we’d need to get working on some new ones. Would prefer us to keep him but wouldn’t be gutted if he left. Not irreplaceable

Knowing Barca this will take all summer for them to sort.

In a way I’ve got very tired of his dad’s antics regarding this so if we line up replacements it’s fine by me. He would also be a decent value however I am sure he committed to the club last week.

Diaz was our second or third best attacker this season - but the drop-off in quality from Salah to him and Gakpo is massive, let alone to the rest of our forwards, and I think that is something that Slot and co. want to address as soon as possible.

85 million euros is around 72 million pounds, which is a massive profit on a good player but one who’s inconsistent in the final third. Thing is, if they really do decide to sell him this summer, then they have to get his replacement in first, otherwise clubs will look to fleece Liverpool because Hughes might end up raising a fair bit of cash by selling the likes of Diaz, Nunez, Elliott, Kelleher… And I don’t have the slightest idea of who that new left wing forward could be.

For that money, I wouldn’t turn them down. Diaz is probably our best dribbler of the ball, but he does have a tendency to hit a brick wall and his shooting could be better.

I’d be sorry to see him go, though.

Seemingly in the minority but I’d definitely be keeping him in a window where we are almost certain to be moving on two other forwards and we’d likely snap somebody’s hand off if a decent offer came in for Jota.

He’d probably snap his own hand in the meantime

For me, it’s hard to turn down that kind of money for him. We still have Gakpo on the left and can bring someone else in. Plus Jota can play there as well as Wirtz if he comes in. I think a solution can be found.

Our 2nd best attacker this season, so he can’t be let go without proper reinforcements. I’d happily see him stay.

I sort of agree, I would like to see him stay, but if there is a firm bid from Barca I think it would be difficult for the club to turn it down given the likelihood the player himself would probably be keen on that move happening - and that we were prepared (reportedly) to sell him to City last summer to fund a move for Alvarez.

To be honest this story is as old as time itself.

I’m wary of us giving ourselves way more to do than we need to for the sake of receiving a good fee.

Nunez, Chiesa, Kelleher, Trent, Tsimikas, Gomez, Quansah, Konate, Elliott, Endo, Diaz, Jota…that’s a lot of players with question marks over there future and obviously we can’t sell them all. Throw in some players like Doak, Morton etc I’m sure we could comfortably generate upwards of £150m this summer, selling Diaz would be way down on my list of priorities.

Well this will be later on in the summer if it happens, Barca are cheap and their transfers rarely take days to complete.

To be honest there seems less to this than Wirtz when that was first opened.

I like Diaz and hope he stays. With that said, every player has their price and 85M euros demands that we consider it.

Barcelona will try to pay on the never never, so we need the money up front and if they need to use a third party and pay them off, with interest, that’s their problem.

It looks like Nunez will definitely be going. Reports today also suggest that teams in Saudi are looking at him and also Jota. Chiesa is not exactly nailed on for a spot next season either. So if Diaz is going too, we might just be left with Gakpo and Salah from the six attackers we have enjoyed this season.

It’s plausible, but it also seems a bit mad.

It will be a fascinating summer.

I’m 100% with Herb on this one. Completely agree with both his posts and wouldn’t be selling Diaz for any money, even if it feels above his actual value.

If you do not resist the apparently inevitable, you will never know how inevitable the inevitable was.

Can Nico Williams play there? His release clause is 58m Euro…

Could be…opportunistic

How about Mitoma as a possible replacement? If Endo stays then at least he will have a ‘tomodachi’ to invite round for an evening of Japanese hotpot.

If Barca find the money and actually make an offer, then yes. Take the money and run. But that’s a big ‘if’.
