The offer still seems low. Given the prices of multiple other players we can point to for some sort of comp, I would have thought 80M euros is the Bayern/European number, and 100M the Saudi number.
If Bayern do 70M euros with another 10 of realistic add-ons, I would draw a line under it and do the deal, not least so we have clarity moving into the new season. Slot clearly has plans to invest more money into the side and this will help.
But there’s a sense in which Bayern Munich are in danger of aggravating us, and if they don’t make an adequate bid soon, we can, and should, waft along and do our thing, and not really engage with them.
Oh, poor Bayern, cry me a river. They are probably not used to not getting their transfer targets because the rest of the league bends over for them when selling them their best players.
Because, I lives in Germany, i knows lot of Bayern fans and i dislike then due his arrogance. And Bayern has did snap up in the past the important players of clubs, then are a threat for the idiots of Munich or won the German championship. For example Bayer 04 Leverkusen 2002 (Michael Ballack, Ze Roberto) or 2004 (Lucio) or Borussia Dortmund 2013 (Mario Götze) and 2014 (Robert Lewandowski). The Bavarians reject a exciting battle to the German championship. And i dislike Uli Hoeneß.
Nope, I don’t think he’s a viable option. You cannot go into a season with goals of playing 60 games, and have two full-time CB and one who has one foot out of the door already.
Not sure if that is a great argument… if Madeuke at ~£50M is the benchmark then £60M to £68M for a much much older player in Diaz that has little to no resale value is comfortably better.
I’m also of the opinion that a Madeuke in a Liverpool team under Slot would put up better numbers than a Luis Diaz in Chelsea under Maresca.
But are Bayern looking to buy with resale value in mind or are they after a player at his peak? Spent £100m on Kane last summer and £50m odd on Palhinha who were both older. Brought in Tah this summer who is older. They even sold Tel this summer if they were thinking about developing and selling on.
Feels like the market has got to this odd place where potential is valued above proven ability. If Bayern had four good years out of him and then he left on a free that’d be a more successful deal than if Madeuke fails to push on and leaves for a moderate fee in four years time.
I don’t think elite clubs like Bayern are too concerned with raising transfer funds from sales providing they’re winning the league four out of every five seasons. They want elite players to help them do that they need to pay elite level fees for players in their prime.
