No idea where Ornstein has come up with £190m from, though. Hughes has been in post since 1st June last summer, since when our outgoings have been:
So, even including Diaz that’s a shade over 180m EUROS.
Am I missing something?

Doesn’t feel like enough for me but Hughes and co have been cooking this summer so let’s see what happens next.
I don’t think the Isak move was dependent on selling Diaz so the Fofana dream lives on. Be nice just to piss off Everton if nothing else.
I won’t dispute that, the market is only getting more inflated, but we’re talking about a player who will hardly get any better - and even at his best, he was better known for his work rate than his goals and assists, which his numbers show.
I’m actually pleased with the fee, given that club could have probably done a bit better at selling players in the years preceding Hughes’ arrival. Now, for the replacement!
Wirtz no 7 then.
I think Ornstein counted bonuses as well, right?
I would assume add ons? Feel like the Quansah fee on that screenshot is low, so must be the initial fee rather than what they’ll pay assuming he develops alright
Thanks Diaz.
Expect he’ll have a Mane style experience in Munich with his lederhosen and stein teammates.
Just about my favourite player over the last 3 seasons. Not sure how all of this has come about, just a case of wanting a final big contract or something more to it? All a bit disappointing in the end.
It was inevitable he would be sold with all the noise over the years through his father, who essentially tried to hold us to ransom.
It’s good business.
Thank you, Lucho. You had the coolest song.
YNWA!
He’s gone then.
In an ideal world we would buy a couple of players to strengthen a squad that had just walked the league so only time will tell what effect the wholesale changes will have.
I think we’re short of a top-class CB, a midfielder and a forward. If Nunez and Chiesa go that leaves us with Gakpo, Salah and Ekitite so we’ll be 2 or 3 light up front depending on how Wirtz fits in.
I’m intrigued to see what happens with Elliott and Endo. I think Elliott will go but will Endo play more or just warm the bench all season again?
The CB situation worries me more than anything. I hope were not thinking of using Endo, Gravenberch and Robbo as emergency CB’s.
I see Elliot staying if we don’t get a suitable offer in for him.
Much depends on the formation that we are using though.
That may be the case. He can keep the bench warm with Endo again while the other mids get run into the ground.
If we are playing with 4 midfielders , we need Elliot there.
AS clearly didn’t fancy him last season. What’s changed? If he’s not going to be a potential starter it’s pointless him being here.
