It’s really important to understand the critical difference with this case. Those penalties were basic violations of agreed upon spending rules and identified as a result of those clubs turning over their books in accordance with the agreed upon regulations, and those books quite clearly outlining their spending violations.
City’s case is as much a fraud case as it is a spending violations case comparable to those other clubs. The Prem were so aware of this that when they inserted “good faith” clauses into their reporting requirements that was basically considered the “fuck city” set of clauses.
City are now fucked not because the broke the spending rules, but because they committed fraud in trying to hide it and continued doing so even after signing up to these good faith requirements.
Can’t believe it but City fans are already whining about how THEY are the real victims here because all their joy and celebrations will have been for nothing and they were cheated. I am playing a lament on the tiniest little violin for them.
It’s easy to snowball today, but there simply has to be huge backhanders associated with the tenure at this club. Which would be staggering if it came out.
