I disagree with much of the politics but I do agree with serval of his points on gender pay gap.

Our societies are generally built around competition. A desire to be the best, earn more money, and rise above your peers. It’s how many (rightly or wrongly) define self worth.

To rise to the top. Its not enough to have talent. It typically involves risk taking, sacrifice (time, principles , family) and various other personality traits. It often does involve making those difficult decisions. For me it’s not discrimination (or intelligence or skills) that leads to more chess players being men. Inequality is not why 99% of truck drivers are men (even though shortage and it’s well paid).

Low skilled jobs in waste disposal are well paid. They are because they are undesirable job. It’s no different though in most workplaces people get paid well to put up with shit, just as much as because of their talents. Bob gets a pay rise over Tom as he is prepared to travel, he willing to deal with difficult customers, he willing to leave his workmates behind and work for the competition. On paper they do the same job. But effort, outputs, and value to a company is different.

It took me 10 years to figure out that monetary and career status are poor measures of value. Rather than inequality I think women tend to have a healthier balance.

Agree entirely.

You often hear the argument that the top 500 companies are predominantly headed up by “old white men.” That is overwhelmingly correct. However, this is often projected as an example of inequality and proof of patriarchy, sexism, and even misogyny. Very few people bother to ask why and how this situation arose.

It normally takes decades to become the head of a top-performing company or institution. Those roles generally require years of training, expertise, and experience in a particular field. The people currently heading those companies probably began their careers in the latter part of the last century. The laws, culture, workplace traditions, and structures were markedly different and unequal then, especially in the 70s/80s when those “old white men” began entering the workforce. Much work effort and legislation has rightly taken place to address those outdated workplace practices.

These “old white men” in charge are the product of their generation - they just followed a now outdated workplace trajectory - but one that was standard and “normal” at the time. What we will see in the next 20-30 years is this gender equality imbalance being corrected. It’s a matter of time and patience. No amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth will alter this overnight.

The workplace landscape in 20 or 30 years will look markedly different for women than it does today.
And that’s a good thing.

This is such a subculture fetish/niche thing and yet at the same time so broad in its centre.

Yes, we are different and can live our lives (very) differently but the core issues are all the same.

Power and control.

What makes a man is being born with a penis and testicles and having an innate desire to look after and prevent harm to women and children. Ultimately and throughout history, that’s your basis. There’s the idiotic need to impress and fire / tools / diy etc to boot.

So what about those born with a penis and testicles who beat/abuse women and children?

think there’s a categorical difference between male and man. grey area as to how that’s defined, however.

Masculine. Conducts oneself like a gentleman.

Oh, to your example, they need putting in a dangerous chair.
