I can’t stop laughing at this.

My kids look concerned.

You know when you’ve pissed on a piece of tissue paper? All the resistance of that.

Wet, wet, wet.

Casmiero was scoring an own goal last night.

Carrick looks like he’s got to the end of the road. But they cannot fire him because Wilcox has so little credibility with the fans that they won’t accept any of his candidates. So to fire their manager they need to fire Wilcox first, so they let them both go then bring in Carrick as an interim until they can find a new DoF who can appointment a new replacement. But Jim won’t be sold on that target so will refuse to sanction it and instead collaborate with the non-footballing executives to hire their preferred candidate instead, forcing the DoF to leave after being undermined. The whole shit show will cost them a lot of money, requiring Berrada to demonstrate his famed expertise at increasing commercial revenue at a football club to pay for everything.

They are soooooo fucked

Sad thing is they probably get a new manager in during the break and go for a new manager bounce against us.

As you said this needs time, rather they fire him now and appoint someone and let him have the bounce against Roma and Villa.

2 weeks away the malaise will set in again.

You can trace all their troubles back to that summer Fergie left. They thought they could just drop a new manager in and continue to compete. There was no real support in place for Moyes, he was just expected to fill the gap left by Ferguson.

They couldn’t live with Moyes not delivering Fergie level results from day one despite completely failing him in the transfer market that summer. Sacked him with them in 7th and whilst it was a poor performance they weren’t willing to accept any kind of transition period.

Then from the moment he was ushered out the door everything has been short term thinking. Get a big name in in van Gaal and spend a load of money to try and avoid dropping further. Two years later sack him because the players wanted him out. Replace him with Mourinho to get the players back in line and spend another fortune. Sack him mid-season a couple years later but with no clear plan.

And having had two big names fail they change tact and we get the Ole years. Never should have got the job but they’d back themselves into a corner. Sacked him when they were in 7th position too. Then comes the weird Ragnick period where he told them how far behind us they were and how long it would need to sort it but they never listened and he was gone too.

Then it’s the “next big thing” period with ten Haag and Amorin. Both continental head coach types who’d worked with a director of football, a position United have still not managed to nail down. Again, neither given proper support. Plenty of spending but results needed from day one and no time to build anything.

And now they’re back in the Ole boat with Carrick and you’d assume the next move is a return to the big name manager to bring the likes of Bruno and Martinez back in line.

But all of this has been done without putting the proper support systems in place. DoF is a role they still struggle with. There’s a two headed monster in the owners box. They seem to be pretty abject in the transfer market and I can’t really remember the last player since Fernandes to come in and really establish themselves as a key player for them. The promising young lads they buy have no development plan, just chuck them in and hope they don’t fail too badly.

Having grown up with them as the dominant force in England it’s lovely watching them flail around in desperation. But it’s all of their own making and I don’t see yet another managerial appointment being some magic fix. They’re trading on past glories and fail to recognise they need to rebuild the foundations again. Dare I say they should be looking at Arsenal as their blueprint. Clear out the rot, support them through the difficult rebuild phase and think long term success not success next season.

They won’t of course because “this is Manchester United we’re talking about. Manchester United.” and they can’t accept it’s the failings of the club not individual managers or players.

This shower of players won’t give any new manager a bounce. They might run around a bit more, but ultimately they just aren’t very good as a collective. They have no recognized striker now that Seško is injured, their backline is an absolute mess and their midfield is a bunch of slow cloggers.

Any new manager that tries to play anything but mid block counter attack shithousing is going to lose the job by seasons end when they’re relegated.

The question I’d have if I was on their shortlist is who are you building the team around? A 32 year old Fernandes? Cunha and Mbeumo maybe?

The keeper is questionable. You’ve not got any kind of defensive leader. The only one with any kind of midfield influence is Fernandes and they don’t really have an established striker.

There are some building blocks with Yoro, Baleba, maybe even Sesko but there’s nothing in the way of solid foundations. If you’re only going to be given a couple years to get back to competing for the league that just doesn’t seem anywhere near enough.

At some point, they’ll get owners with a clear sight of how to rebuild the club. Just like fsg for us. Then they’ll be able to restart something.

Hopefully that point in time is still far away. :crossed_fingers:

That’s the positive in Radcliffe coming in he delayed that process.

They will get Conte or Nagelsman. They will still be crap with that set of players and that attitude. They need a clear out - starting with whining cunt Bruno.

Word is Conte was approached and told them his demands.

  • Wilcox gone
  • Full control over scouting and player recruitment
  • He brings in his own backroom staff
  • gave a list of the players he wants gone in Jan, then in summer

Was basically told no chance

I would argue that even Yoro and Baleba aren’t great building blocks, and Sesko looks too frail for the PL.

Fernandes has to go in order for them to do any sort of rebuild. I said it here a while ago, but the only setup he performs well in is mid-block counter attack shithousing. He can’t play well in any other system. It’s why he was successful under Ole for the first 18 months, but when they bought Ronaldo and started trying to install a pressing 4-3-3 style, he went to shit. Remember ETH’s first two matches in charge? He was trying to play his high press style that made Ajax so good, but they lost badly, so he reverted to Ole ball because that was the only thing the squad was capable of - they won the league cup and finished 3rd. The following season he tried to change it up and they went to shit because Bruno is an undroppable fan favorite who can’t play proper modern football.

In came Amorim who refused to change his style for any cunt, the results were dismal, Bruno was shite, until along comes Carrick who does what? You guessed it - revert to mid-block shithousery and hit teams on the break. Bruno wins the player of the season award on the back of that because it’s the one thing he’s world class at. They can also thank Casemiro, Sesko, and Slabhead for knocking in jammy goals to win many games where they were completely outplayed.

Now we come to this season, where either Carrick himself or the United brass have realized that counter-attack football is well and good for a midtable side just wanting to secure enough points to avoid relegation, but a top club with PL and CL ambitions needs to play more modern football, and lo and behold, our boy Bruno is back to looking utterly shit.
