I hate it when our fullbacks are narrow. It probably has a lot to do with playing style both Trent and Robbo showed during Klopp’s best years but still, neither Kerkez nor Bradley should be coming into midfield when their biggest strengths lie in bombing forward, playing quick crosses or storming into the box. It’s high time Slot started playing to the strengths of these lads.
Riise:
“He took the No. 6 because I used to wear it, and so I texted him a few times after his move. I wished him well and all that kind of thing. You know, he’s a very aggressive player that hasn’t really shown his best yet. The one thing I see is that everything with him happens at 100 miles an hour. Sprinting, running, everything is always at a high tempo.”
“I think that sometimes he can just maybe relax his playing style. I know that is who he is, but it looks so stressful sometimes. You can tell that he really wants to do well all the time, which is good. But sometimes he can maybe take more time.”
“He’s been good in some games, others he’s struggled in. But I expect him to be fine because he knows the English game, and hopefully he will be more of an attacking threat also in the upcoming games.”
Ginge saying some things I said, too.
I think he’s downlow been pretty good in his last few appearances. It’s just been understandably difficult to put too much focus on it with how badly the team has been doing and the left side in particular.
Yeah Kerkez continues to look a good signing and will, barring injuries, surely make LB his. Frimpong needs to stay injury free if he’s to have an impact.
Kerkez senior appeared again in that podcast a few days ago, since the infamous first time they did it together, a few days before the move from Bournemouth was official.
It was a bit(!) more civilised this time. I guess a few people had a word with him and he also realized he needs to be careful with what he says in public, especially now since they’re at the top level.
Still, some of the things he said, like the first time… I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Probably just accept it as it is and laugh. You couldn’t even translate it properly.

Sounds like if it was his son at the end of that knee/drag, he would have been out of his seat and jumped the hoardings to spark Martinelli out :0)
Apparently we need a bit of that attitude.
It would be fun if the PL introduced that idea of having all the Dads on the touchline shouting abuse and headbutting each other, like in kids football.
My Dad’s bigger than your Dad. ![]()
Does fatter equal bigger?
Italian parents must be good kids, the Club my youngest played for the only person in danger was the ref for bloody awful decisions, the rest got in pretty well,it was really an enjoyable club.
Only if heavier!
Defensively, he had a good second half, but in the first half he was regularly beaten as if he wasn’t there, and then those crosses… ![]()
No he wasn’t. Most of the time he did very well. Ok he made a couple of errors however most of the time he didn’t do anything rash, kept his man at bay and put the tackle in at the opportune moment.
Sure it wasn’t easy however he obviously did better than anyone expected. Just because commentators stick to the narrative doesn’t mean it’s true.
I’m not blind, I don’t need commentators to tell me what I see.
Arsenal would have scored if he was “regularly beaten”.
Evidently he has made you look silly but you won’t admit it. He’s played well these last two months and seems to be settling.
I have seen before that you have problems with my views on Slot, and now this… The moment you start making it personal, you are no longer a discussion partner for me.
Have a great day.
Bear in mind that his first outing against Arsenal was also a fantastic match from him. I like to see that sort of defensive commitment from him, though the attacking aspect of his game leaves a lot to be desired at the moment.
That said, I’m not sure that having an off-form Gakpo helps Kerkez’ attacking game. If prime Mane was there, things would be vastly different for Kerkez, Wirtz, Ekitike… I’m sure of that.
said it in the match day thread and now here aswell , but im leaning heavily into Kerkez being beteer when he has the game dictated to him, not when hes trying to dictate the game…
i.e…hes better when hes having a battle with an out and out winger who does out and out winger things…
And if I am honest its always been a problem for some years that… pacey winger just running at our defence.
