He also has a ridiculous number of assists, key passes and presses that lead to shots.
Moās totals would be higher again if he was allowed the monopoly on free-kicks and penalties like those players wereā¦
He is the penalty taker now, and as for free kicks, heās taken plenty but heās never got anywhere near scoring off one!
He hasnāt taken that many penalties though still (yet) and doesnāt take many of our free kicks. The guys he is competing with numbers wise (and usually battering) were taking every penalty for their teams whilst on the pitch and nearly every single dangerous free kick too.
Also, Moās PL stats include the 13 games (2 goals, 2 assists) for Chelsea when he wasnāt really trusted.
81 goals and 31 assists (112 G/A) in 116 games for Liverpool is phenomenal. Allowing also for Kaneās early callowness (not counting his first 14 PL games 3 goals, 2 assists), he took 128 games to add a further 112 G/A.
We really are witnesses to one of the all time great Premier League careers and it really is quite under the radar. For comparison Suarez is loudly recognised as one of the best to play for us in the Premier League era and one of the best players in the Premier League era full stop. Was legitimately in competition with Prime Messi and Prime Ronadlo as contender for best in the world for a season. Had 69 goals and 39 assists in 110 games for us. Salah really measures up well with 81 goals and 31 assists in 116 games. Thatās before you get into conversations about playing positions, penalty taking and free kicks. Just looking at those pure numbers shows not just how much of a goal scoring phenomenon we have but also creative too. So incredibly lucky to have such a talent on the pitch who is such a seemingly top bloke off it too.
Mo is a King whereas Ronny is a princess.
Iām not sure itās under the radar here. Liverpool fans know how good he is. Maybe in the wider game.
Not sure I 100% agree. Some donāt seem to rate him very highly at all. Others see him as good or great at a push. Very few seem to acknowledge and appreciate him as one of the very best the Premier League has seen.
I think its down to the efficiency at which he operates. A lot of his goals/assists are down to being quicker in positioning and pace to be at the right time at the right place to find the net with a simple finish, or find the simple pass for the assist. That is obviously punctuated with moments of unbelieveable skill or finishing (goal v Chelsea, the goal late against Spurs before they jammed that penno, Roma).
Someone like Suarez was revered for his ability to make stuff happen that was unexpected.
Both had the stats, one just did crazy wild shit, one is more controlled.
I see Mo as one of the best we have ever had. He not only has the stats to back that, he has the medals too.
Moā stats raise three questions as I see itā¦
With no criticism intended either way, but anyone fortunate enough to witness him in full flowā¦
a) His stats would be off the scale if he had scored just a percentage of the (easier) opportunities he has missedā¦ Not sure what his ratio per goal per chance isā¦ but unfortunately they have pegged him back to his still somewhat impressive statsā¦
b) Would a more natural goal plunderer such as Rush, Fowler or Suarez have been as successful (if not more) in a Jurgen team and the tactics he deploysā¦ or has their natural talents been limited due to the tactical system they played inā¦ ??
c) Personally I feel Mo fits Jurgens tactics like a gloveā¦ But if a replacement could be chosen from the Liverpool teams of the last three decadesā¦ Whom (if anyone) could have ousted Moā¦?
My opinion;
A) Mo makes things look far far simpler and easier than they actually are.
B) Mo has a record that stands up to the whole history of the club and the records of the top flight of English football quite well so think itās strange to talk about āwell if player A was in Salahs position would they do as well or better?ā!
C) This is what Iām talking about. An almost reluctance to realise that the reason Salah is achieving what he is is the fact that Salah is so damn good. An almost āwell he canāt be that good heās not clinical enough it must be down to the systemā attitude that nobody ever used as a backhanded compliment for Suarez or Messi or either Ronaldo or other world class players. Why canāt people just accept him as one of the best the league has seen? If he was more clinical heād be on Dixie Dean style figures.
To be honest, I donāt mind if Mo (or any of our players for that matter) are underrated. In fact, so long as we are winning the big trophies, itās probably better for our players to be underrated and all our success be ascribed to the team ethic, manager, stadium, mentality monsters etc. Makes it less likely other teams try to unsettle out players; keeps them more level headed; may allow us to keep wages a tad lower and makes it easier to sell the club to our targets as getting in the team doesnāt seem impossible.
Me thinks something may have been lost in translation hereā¦
My original post DOES actually praise Moās record for being the best their is/was at scoring goals.!
Apologise if my English Grammar has not made that clear enoughā¦
Some people donāt truly appreciate something until itās gone,itās why i enjoy every last drag on my spliff.

Except personal recognition and accolades and how they are viewed in the game does matter to players. When top players are deciding where to go but top players arenāt given the recognition they deserve when here it would create an issue.
You are right. Mo doesnāt get the recognition he deserves not in world football and also not from our fans.
Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski. Suarez at Liverpool. Superstars of their Clubs but their teams stand and fall with them.
You can blame JĆ¼rgen Klopp for making sure that the squad he built has no superstar or has at least 7 (Alisson, VvD, Robbo, Trent, Henderson, ManĆ© and Salah) at the same time.
Mo deserves to be PL player of the season and ballon dāOr winner because he is doing a world class job but so are the other 6 iāve mentioned.
Just for context by the way on this subject Goal has Salah as 18th below the likes of Ramos, Kimmich, Mueller, Neymar and Gnabry in their top 50.
I hope he comes back healthy
Is that Audie Attar below?
