That was one of his weakest games in a good while. Not sure if he did 3 things accurately in that first half. Stats also showed it. Of course, heās no robot. Playing a lot of football lately. Maybe the AFCON defeat also left a little mark. Heāll be back soon, Iāve little doubt.
Do you think weāll be able to get rid in the summer? Would anyone take him now or is it too late? Shite we might be stuck with himā¦ If we sold him last summer we could have funded the return of Danny - man of steel - Ings or snapped up Paterson Daka.
Do you honestly think so?
I have no explanation saving what @Limiescouse saidā¦that he is viewed as a diver. But that really doesnāt explain it either. Not satisfactorily.
Mo is the sort of forward who is happy to initiate contact (legally). Heās got low center of gravity, turns incredibly well and has a great first step and so finds it a situation he can draw in a defender and then beat them. I think defenders then get a LOT of leeway for illegally continuing that contact after heās wriggled free as if the refs are thinking that because Mo initiated contact anything goes.
Sorry, that really doesnāt answer any questions. He was fouled three times in the first half vs West Ham. The first was the defender kicking through him, so he certainly didnt initiate contact. And saying the defenders get leeway is pretty obvious. The real question is why?
Because Mo has initiated the contact and once it looks like a 5-50 situation refs will often let it play out, often incorrectly being unable to tell the difference between a player bodying an opponent and one holding on (see James on Virgil last week).
I accept that doesnāt account for 100% of it, but it seems to be pretty clearly happening to account for at least some of it.
