He makes it sound like the only way to replace Salah is to find another Salah, which we’re all well aware is incredibly difficult. He gives himself the answer in saying that. There are more ways how a team/a new attack can be formed.
Carra on MNF just said he is massively disappointed with Salah because of the timing of the comments ahead of the Madrid and City games.
I’m massively disappointed in him for getting us Hodgson, but you don’t see me spouting that on TV do you?
Mo nailed on for hat tricks in both then
And a high number of coaches and physios and scouts and analysts and god knows how many other backroom staff that we lost last season
Listening to an interview given by a reporter of the mail to TAW he said that FSG have made the same mistake with an ageing baseball superstar sticking rigidly to their policy of not extending older players, he then joined a rival team and won the league for the next two years for his new team while the Red Sox struggled.
To be fair to Caragher he is worried Salah is rocking the boat at the wrong time with some important games coming especially the shitty game and giving Slot a headache of planning ahead of the next 5 fixtures
Yep, they let Mookie go to my Dodgers. He is probably the greatest ever to play the game alongside Shohei, Kershaw, Koufax, October Kike, Tommy Edman, Buehler, and Freeman.
While that is true, doesn’t mean the Red Sox made a mistake. Plus, footy is far more unforgiving of the aging process than baseball.
The issue with Betts had nothing to do with age as he is still only 32. The issue is the Sox had ended up with an expensive, underperforming roster that needed to be rebuilt. They ultimately felt it would be difficult to do the deals that needed to be made if they committed the amount of money needed to resign Betts to one player so they traded him for a collection of players they hoped would contribute to the rebuild.
It’s difficult to draw parallels to Mo especially as ownership did not make the Betts decision (Chaim Bloom did) and wont be making this one (Hughes, maybe with help from Edwards, will).
Mookie Betts was also in his prime when he moved at 27.
So technically in Baseball you are looking at 8 years if not a couple more.
Mookie Bets…
Is this the Salah thread?
Thanks mate I know nothing about baseball nor anything about the world of baseball no I have watched films about famous baseball players.
The issue is some people in the football world are using it as a comparison. Us with knowledge of Baseball are trying to at least confirm the position of when Betts was let go.
It’s like letting Salah go 3 years ago pretty much which isn’t the same.
It was only a parallel between 2 sports worlds both with the same owner Salah -betts
It was a discussion related to FSG and the Red Sox and whether it may prove pertinent to the Reds.
Seems relevant. But mods please feel free to delete.
Agree. I have felt that Mo is on the cusp of falling away for a while (and have been wrong thus far). Eventually I will be right; the question for FSG is when will that be and is it a gamble that should lead to them agreeing a 1 year deal (seems clear); 2 years (probably right now although I’m still on the fence) or 3 years (not sure unless its front loaded).
Stop being so effing sensible, we are doomed if Mo leaves, it will be the downfall of LFC, no one can replace him, his goals his assists. When he has been missing we have been a shambles the end is nigh.
BTW our record when Mo hasn’t been available, afcon, injuries etc hasn’t been too shabby.
I perfectly understand the club, we are well run and operate within our means and therefore have to think of the connotations of paying big for aging players.
Mo is certainly playing the game with this video, and for me it is a mark against him, especially when he knows talks are ongoing, no player is bigger than the club.
Yes in the ‘Mix zone’
Which he normally ignores
Its definitely an age thing, jump in with both feet then read the fine print in shame
