Yeah agreed. Might be better for him (and for us) to go ahead and join up with the Egypt squad early now. Will allow things to settle down and then let’s make a decision (stick or twist) with some time having passed and heads having cooled down.
I’ve been thinking this for days. Clearly NOT the time to bring Mo on. I am sure if we were down 0-2 we would have seen Mo Salah on the pitch. I know he is frustrated but such a strange time to rant and try to make a case.
Mo wouldn’t have done what Chiesa did.
There won’t be much value in his contract. At 400k/week and 33-years old, I doubt it will be anything like the numbers in circulation a couple of years ago. I thought it was a mistake to sign him to that contract, last season all the signs of decline were there - how many times were we complaining that he was having no influence on the match, and then there would be one moment and a goal (two sometimes!)? The only difference between his performance level this year and last is the goals dried up.
He’s entitled to his opinion but perhaps he should choose his words more carefully and have a little more self awareness.
Mo’s interview isn’t even a fraction as disrespectful to the club or its supporters as what Souness did.
knew it was going to happen, but still not nice to see/hear Mo getting dragged over the coals by every no-mark tom dick, and harry today
How does that affect Mo’s numbers apart from assists
Also last year seemed like Trents worst season in all aspects apart from defensively where at the beginning of the season he improved.
Also, age waits for no one, Mo is slower, less explosive, dribbles past his opponent less and is down on shot conversion and then people put his form down to others rather than him.
For me we had to sort our vulnerability down our right and until 70 minutes against Leeds and someones brain fart we looked like we had.
Mo has been immense for us, but time catches up with us all
To my eye we did look a bit better - not great, but a bit more solid. It looked like it was going to be 7 points from 9 after 70 decent minutes at Leeds. Then Konate.
Unfortunately it then fell apart, which tells me the mental fragility is still a big issue to solve.
So the club claims, but imo, this is likely a diciplinary action. Salah would not have started if it was a sports decison, but he would be on the bench in case we needed to change the game.
Rethoric is rethoric, pr is pr. Facts don’t always confirm with it perfectly.
Exactly. Of course it is disciplinary. Without his outburst, Salah would have traveled with the team and either started, or been on the bench.
I think him not traveling is a bit of a holding measure, while the club decides what it will do.
My best guess is that if Salah doesn’t apologize and seek reconciliation, he will be gone in January. But a bit of a dance will play out to keep the door open for Salah to return to Liverpool post-AFCON, until a move away is signed and sealed.
Oh great, now Ali is getting the Salah grilling!
Forgot that Ali and Mo have been teammates for a LOOONG time, Roma + LFC = 9 years!
I’m starting to think, unless Mo pushes the boat out further in a negative direction, that this will all blow over (after hearing Arne and Ali).
Begovic (commenting on Arne’s press conference) said the same.
Ali wants Mo back. Arne also said he is a firm believer in second chances.
Sky Sports must not understand the meaning of the word “explosive”. There was nothing explosive about Arne’s interview.
Has he played his last game for Liverpool?
I have no clue, I cannot answer this question at this moment in time.
Of course, Sky Sports has to headline the answer that Arne has “no clue” if Salah has played his last game for Liverpool.
That all depends on Mo. If he can calm the hell down and talk things through it can all be patched over. So it’s perfectly okay for Arne to say what he did.
He also said “I am a firm believer in the possibility to return for a player”
None of this will blow over. It is a symptom of the house not only being on fire, but almost burned down.
The situation at the club aand the dressing room is clearly worse than most of us believed in our nightmares. Those who wanted Slot out weeks ago, were clearly unfortunately right, I hate to say (I was hardly one of those).
I don’t know if it would have helped to sack Slot a month ago or more, but he needs to be sacked now for sure, along with Salah either publically apologicing or going the same way. All of this is terribly destructive and will only get worse, not better. Surgery is needed, too late now for mere physio treatment. This is a full scale disaster and there will now be factions in the dressing room. Total morale failure.
Ps. I get those that say that “players cannot win such a fight with the manager, then it’s over for authority” and etc. Normally this is right and it’s Salah in the wrong here. He needs to be made an example of, but this is just a bloody symptom. And the damage will only increase as long as Slot is here with his incompetent man management.
Both parties will do a bit of preening for a few weeks…
LFC will know now, exactly the best outcome they want..!
@Magnus mate, you having a bad day? ![]()
I understand what you’re saying, I don’t think it’s a bad. Mo is an emotional guy. He’s an Egyptian Arab who wears his heart on his sleeve. So it can come across as a bigger thing than it actually is.
Anyway we will see.
