Mohamed SALAH: 2025/26

What about them? They don’t need to be spoken about for the billionth time as it’s very apparent his general play hasn’t been up to stratch for years, if we cannot rely on him to come through in either of the 2 big moments he’s had in the last 2 games…then I struggle to see what he’s in the team for unless it’s to prevent off field issues from reocurring.

It happens incredibly quickly. I’m 44 and I play cricket locally still. I could have played Vets but chose not to and stayed in the normal League and in the T20 competition in the first half of this season I finished top scorer with an average of just under 50 and a strike rate approaching 140. Started the 30 over comp that we have for the remainder of the season and it’s like I’ve never held a bat before yet just over a month ago…

At a professional level in any sport, even just a 5% decrease in physical and mental ability is enough for it to look like one has fallen off the cliff and in real terms, just 5% is where the cliff is and sadly that’s where it is with Mo.

Yep its little things that you notice in yourself and watching others, you feel for them as you know how it feels having gone through it.

It’s not like he was technically the cleanest even at his peak, but dear me some really poor touches and executions with the ball in the last two games.

He appears to have lost the ability to pass the ball accurately, a basic skill for a professional footballer.

Likes camels, does she?
Is that why she married you?

Yeah this drop off is not just a drop off in form it’s worse than that, though I wonder if it’s age and the situation like with so many others.

Right now I think it’s all about retaining market value.

Hopefully he has a bit of a purple patch, Saudis will no doubt desire him. I would have suggested an MLS team but the orange one will make that harder for anyone who isn’t white.

Yeah the scary thing is when it’s obvious at the start of the season to a poster on the other side of the world but the club haven’t dealt with it yet. Surely letting Mo go last summer would have been contemplated.

What’s all this talk about Salah and passing. He’s never been a good passer. Sure he could do those tricky assists and stuff however seeing him drop back into midfield has always been a worry. His passing has always been a problem it’s just one of the reasons why asking him to help out in midfield has never been on.
To notice it now is a bit late. It’s also a reason why he shouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot during a period where we cannot carry anyone.

Just on his two games, since returning from Afcon, he shouldn’t be in the starting eleven. He’s a passenger.

I can definitely understand the reasons why he went straight back in. We don’t have many forwards fit and had difficulty creating and especially converting.

We’ll see what happens next. I agree he doesn’t have to start every game, but he’s still very much needed if we want to accomplish our (minimal) goals this season.

Salah is what he is at this point. I think we will get some nice moments, but overall the level is not what we need any more and I would imagine there will be a move in the summer, probably to the Saudis. They look like they are gearing up to go again with another big name or two, and Salah fits the bill.

The dream scenario is we somehow won the CL with Mo going out on that high.

We clearly need a new winger with pace. If we can’t get Barcola from PSG, someone like Diomande comes into the equation. Still relatively unproven, but pace to burn, good on the dribble, and can play on both sides. The price he would cost would be beyond what he has proven so far, but arguably he might be a player we would regret missing if we don’t do it in the summer.

I think the club will be reluctant to discommode him between now and the end of the season, given his monetary value in signing for another club if it is the right one. A happy MO might be easier to relate to if internal transfer discussions are to be had…

Don’t want to see him go obviously, but watching him getting criticised (rightly so at times), on a weekly basis, will only get worse next season if he is incapable of regaining his form.

Would like to remember him as he used to be, rather than ‘the old peoples home candidate’ he might turn into…

Yeah some of those early 90s kits I have a reflex revulsion to primarily Because that was the kit I watched my idol, rushy, come to look so poor and old, and passed it while wearing

It’s an unpleasant thing to be forced to watch
