Mohamed SALAH: 2025/26

Proble with especially the Gakpo numbers is they are so low.

Ian Rush, 346 and Roger Hunt, 285
have also scored more than anyone at MU, of course. We’ve been spoiled.

We have to tell Mo that he will be a rotation player if he decides to see out his deal as he isn’t at the required level to help us challenge anymore as a starter.

Surely as a competitive player (as we have seen when he gets dropped) that he will then decide to part ways with well wishes in the summer.

Think we can get a good fee still from Saudi. 50 million mark anyways, Saudi will want a name for their league post Ronaldo.

Last night again, the amount of times he’s in a good position with a bit of time and space and the attack breaks down with not enough clarity and execution of what he wanted to do with the ball.

For me Salah has always been a confidence player. His head needed to be in the right place, and he needed to feel loved. It’s why I think he worked so well under Klopp.

Klopp sort of described this as the challenge of managing him.

There is no doubt he has lost half a yard of pace, but I still believe he could be a top performer. Managing minutes, big games and also guiding younger players

you could argue for 400k a week it shouldnt take a cuddle to get him playing well…

but then again, you could counter if you’ve paid 400k already, why would you draw the line with giving him a cuddle…

Sadly every passing game Mo adds another layer of dull disappointment ontop of what was a glistening bright legacy. I know our options are limited but I’d like to see him dropped now, perhaps subbed on for the final PL home game of the season so he can get a deserved goodbye, but he just isn’t worthy of getting game time anymore. We absolutely have to say goodbye to him.

He is (or was) much more serious than being a confidence player, being the mental monster he is and physical (question if he’s still…).

Also one of the most consistent forwards at the top level of his era.

I don’t think you do that if you depend so much on confidence given by someone else.

I also highly question the love aspect. With a player like him, it’s about finding the right balance of freedom and tactical tasks. Other than that, he seems very self manageable to me. He has his confidence and goals and if other players want to follow him, he welcomes it.

He had his dips in form even at his peak, post some AFCON’s and in latter stages of some seasons, but that’s normal. Also, technically, he’s never been the ā€œcleanestā€ player.

Things in football can be unpredictable, he could be back at a high level next season if some circumstances are better (of which he’s part of, being a key starting player…). But this season after his last is also something that was hard to predict.

And he didn’t react well to one of the first times we tried to manage his minutes, so there’s also that.
