Good point about the situation in the Middle East. No matter how much money is on offer, Mo is already a rich man, and will think long and hard about moving his family to Saudi Arabia in the current climate. If it all calms down he might think nothing of it.
Before the Iran situation, I was operating on the assumption that Salah will depart this summer. I just don’t see a place for him in the side we are becoming. We need better than the current version of Mo on the wing - someone who is faster, and who can beat a defender and get him turned around, opening the whole pitch up.
If Mo does stay, then hopefully the powers that be will have a word to say he will be a rotational player, so expectations are managed. Even then, he can still be useful for us, as we integrate a new winger. We just need to make sure we find a way to get Mo into the half space, closer to the box and the goal, rather than being stuck too wide on the wing, isolated, and non-threatening given his current pace.
It will be fascinating to see what happens with him this summer.
