Naby KEITA: 2021/22

/prays not another false dawn for Naby… Because he is a proper baller.

This list proves the opposite of what Dan thinks it does.

Funnily enough, with the exception of Chelsea and maybe Leicester I felt the same.

Funnily enough, when I think about Keita, I think of him as an expensive investment that I’m so desperate to work out, so that club wouldn’t look like mugs in that deal, rather than a football player of flesh, blood and soul. Shame on me for that, I guess. That said, I can’t remember a PL or a CL game, aside from Real Madrid away last season, where he played badly (or at least worse on overall than his teammates).

I like his playing style but I don’t think his feisty mentality at Leipzig was properly translated to Liverpool and Premier League. If anything, he looks very insecure at times. Maybe all he ever needed to justify that outlay was a prolonged spell of full fitness to make it work for him, otherwise his next move will be a free transfer back to Germany (probably to Dortmund once FSG sanction a 300 million pounds deal for Bellingham).

Bet the fucker would get up off the treatment table and last 90 minutes 3 times per week if he was marking Shakira

Forget about him, I’d get up[ and last 90 minutes if I was marking Shakira

I very much doubt many men would last 90 mins with Shakira

You’d probably get snapped by Pique before getting the chance to last that long

There would be lots; and I mean, lots, of time wasting.

Really? I’d be making straight for the box, shooting early, then profusely apologising if at any stage I’d gone too early and been offside, discreetly wondering if I’d crossed the line.

But would manhandling in the box be allowed?

More like 90 seconds

You look at that goal and think “is this the spark his career needed in the past three years” and then you see him get skinned twice for two goals that gave Atletico a way back into the game and maybe even into the top spot of the group at one point. I can’t help the feeling that, regardless how his fitness turns out to be this season, club will be looking to cut their losses on both him and AOC and replace them with one player who could be relied upon in the long term.

Not great in a 3 man midfield, would be better the tip of the diamond.

Hope he is thick skinned enough to deal with that because we need him confident and able to contribute. Feel for him a bit as said above, when he scored the goal it seemed like his Liverpool career was finally getting going, and then he gets hooked (deservedly).

did someone just say Jude?

Seems like after he scored the beauty against Atletico, he stopped doing what he was doing so well against Watford. Reckon the sub at half time is the message for Naby to do the hard work again.

Having been skinned for the first goal, he needed to use nous during the second goal to make at least his presence felt, rather than ending up in a similar fashion.

If he can instil that discipline in his game, and then also be courageous with the ball at times, he will have more opportunities. If he views the sub as a learning point, then he still has a future.

You could easily say the same about most of the team, if we go a couple of goals up our concentration levels drop and we start show boating… The problem is we take about 60minutes to finally get our act together, and in that time we’ve shipped 2+ goals. It’s a worrying trend - See Milan, Brentford, City and now Atletico…

Probably one we can rely on for most PL games but maybe not the bigger ones, as said he was good against Watford at times putting the tough stuff in.
