Yo Sweeting… you crammed 9 posts into one…!
Never get to 2000 that way

For me Nat is good enough to be on the squad, is he better than, VVD, Gomez, Matip and Konate no. However he is fit and he would be someone I would seriously consider against the neanderthal teams, who play the long ball game up to a big striker and where set pieces are their main chance of scoring. Hopefully Konate can be a beast in the air, but the Premier league is a different beast compared to the Bundesliga.

Not sure if he’s a keeper, but his thread’s the CB champion of TIA.

Nat - 1025 posts.
VVD - 770
Gomez - 383
Ozan - 343
Rhys Williams - 159

IMO he’s a lock starter for any PL club which doesn’t tend to hold the majority of possession. Shown he deserves to play football, not sit the bench.

No; he’s a central defender.

Boom tish.

VVD - coming back from a long term serious injury
Gomez - coming back from yet another long term injury
Matip is Matip
Konate - has had many small injuries, missing many games. Also needs to learn Klopp’s system, and adapt to the Prem.

Given all this, I’d say unless we get a Godfather can’t refuse offer, Nat should stay.

I think it really comes down to what Nat wants for his career. He’s shown his toughness and ability and should have an opportunity to play every day for a mid/lower table team or at worst a Championship side in the promotion hunt.

Does he want that or to stay here as 4th/5th choice and a play in the league cup and maybe a handful a games covering injuries/rotation?

No reason to criticize either choice as he’d have good reasons to choose either.

He also has to consider that by being a squad player, he has a chance to be part of a set-up that is geared to win trophy’s and medals… that may be a deciding factor in his choosing as well

Agree, also if the other 4 are fit does he even make the bench.

Probably not. I suppose there is a reasonable chance either Gomez or Matip leaves, but there have been no rumors really around moves for them. Can assume 1 of them at least will miss some time which might see Nat on the bench.

Oh! I haven’t looked in on this thread for a while. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Interesting discussion.
I feel Nat is happy just making the squad so bench and starts don’t bother him though of course he would be delighted to start a league cup match or be on the bench for an FA cup match. Anything else would surely be seen as a bonus. Great days ahead!

If we’re ready to sell our second choice RB Neco I’m getting the feeling that we ‘need’ the money and will also be ready to sell out 5th choice CB Nat.

Think we will keep Ben Davies as 5th choice now.

I think Ben Davies is quick. Which makes him better suited to playing a high line.

Nothing ambiguous about that quote. Wants to play games, and won’t get that here without another injury crisis.

If we can get around £10m then that’s a more than fair price for a player who could have left for pennies last year.

Yes but what if the sky falls in, what if VVD and Gómez are taken hostage, what about loyalty? :smirk:

Brighton?

Can’t wait to see them line up with Phillips and Burn at wing backs.

Next level chemistry from Potter. :joy: :tada:

If I’m not mistaken Palace had so many players leaving because of expiring contracts. Could they be looking for a new CB?

They first have to sort out their head coach situation.
