Nathaniel PHILLIPS: 2021/22 (on loan at Bournemouth)

I had wondered the same thing, however, I saw yesterday they were being linked to Favre and I’m not sure he is the type of manager to play to Nat’s strengths. I see a team like Burnley under Dyche to be that.

They should sign both Nat Phillips and Neco Williams since they have released Sakho and Clyne.

But yeah, they need a manager first. Surprised that they are still without one.

The full Neil Jones article says both Newcastle and Southampton have made enquiries as well as Burnley and Brighton so there’s a reasonable prospect of a bidding war breaking out. Jones says the club are looking for at least £12 million.

Think +£25m for Nat and Neco combined is possible.

Yeah, it depends very much who they appoint. Someone like de Boer would probably avoid Nat. Although someone like Potter might have something completely different in his mind. But just take Riedewald as an example, going from a starter under de Boer to being nowhere and occasionally used more as a midfielder under Hodgson.

Newcastle makes more sense of those two, with their back 3, deeper defending, Bruce still in charge, ect. Southampton less so, being a very aggressive compact 4-4-2 side. They need some individual improvements in some areas.

Not looking to boost the numbers on this thread or anything…
But been wondering if Nat knows that it is always best to store a can of baked beans upside down. This then means, when the can is opened, the sauce which settles normally at the top, is know settled at the bottom… which allows every single bean to exit first by being pushed by the sauce, leaving the can completely empty, almost clean!
Was just pondering is all… :0)

I think he is into things more yummy than canned beans, if you catch my drift nudge, nudge, wink, wink :innocent:

I didn’t say that though. I pointed out that Carra was a player identified as one of the best in the country from an early age and retained that status all the way up through the ranks into being a teenager playing regular football at a top club, and one good enough to play multiple positions. It’s not saying that all kids identified as such will be guaranteed to have succesful careers. It was said as a rejection of the comparison to Nat as some sort of plucky underdog unexpectedly eeking out a career.

I’m not. For a club like Palace it is quite tricky in trying to persuade people there. They don’t have a great squad, nor do they have lots of money to spend. And it looks like the manager is trying to get someone with an established reputation - having been linked with Nuno and Favre for example - who may be in demand elsewhere too.

Imagine Edwards selling Phillips, buying Caleta-Car and making a fucking profit?!

Does this mean he’s staying?

Probably want to generate many followers before he leaves :grimacing:

I’m not entirely sure we’ll let him leave before January (although I certainly don’t expect him to stick around for more than a season). We probably want to see how Gomez and Virgil get on in their recoveries before anything moves with him…

Probably wants a nice way to send a thank you message. And sure, he should squeeze every drop of his recent opportunities. Hope he finds himself a new home, plays regular football and enjoys the rest of his career.

He should leave for the sake of his career. Yes, he was great last season at 4th choice CB but we all know that he isn’t good enough to challenge what we already have. If he can play for a PL team, he should leave rather than stay and be back up.
